If anybody reading this has seen me around the forums, you'll know that I'm just getting into airsoft. I JUST purchased all the gear I needed on the 23th of August(including a G&G CM M4 Raider, a holster for my 1911, and some other things). I finally picked up my stuff last Friday(the 30th), and I was so excited to open it up and see all my stuff. I cut open the box, looked in awe at all my stuff, opened everything, and after the initial excitement died down, I noticed to my utmost disappointment that my M4 Raider's outer barrel is bent to the left by a solid 1/8th of an inch. This is obviously visible by looking down the Flash hider, and seeing that the inner barrel is right up against the right side of the outer, with an 1/8th of an inch on the left of the inner.
As expected, I requested an RMA(had to handle this in my downtime, I have class 8:00-11:30, 12:30-3:30, 6:30-9:00PM, on Tuesday and Thursday, so I've been busy), and to my horror they gave me a turn around time minimum of 2 WEEKS!!! That's 2 weeks that I'll be sitting here, NOT playing airsoft. This is ironic, coming from a company that has "Get Out And Play" as their slogan!
I don't know what to do. I've just spent $230 with this company, and this is the service I get? I'm sincerely disappointed and frustrated with this. I should be able to go at a field and play this weekend, but instead I'll be going to UPS and sending my rifle back, so that it can be SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY INSTEAD OF REPLACED. It would be easier for me to re-purchase the rifle and wait on the refund, but I shouldn't have to do this!!!
If anybody has any advice, I would appreciate it greatly. I'm so depressed about this that I had trouble concentrating in my evening class, and left early out of frustration. I'm going to call tomorrow and even though I'm a really nice guy, I'm going to try REALLY hard to DEMAND better service. I'm not one to raise my voice or change my tone, but I have to make an effort, because unless they correct this, it seems like Airsoft GI is just another corporation in it for the $$$ and they don't really care about my horrible experience and that the summer's about to end and I'll be sitting here, waiting for my rifle. Ridiculous!
I also bought a Flash Hider for $6, and now that I know I can't change my G&G's Flash Hider without destroying it, I want to return it, and they want to charge me a 15% restocking fee! IT CAME IN A SMALL ZIPLOC BAG!!! NO TAGS, NO LABELS, NOTHING!!!
The way I see it, I should get some kind of free expedited shipping, especially since someone HANDLED AND CHRONO'ED the rifle and DIDN'T NOTICE THE DAMAGE! Either that, or the chrono-er damaged it himself, because he didn't sign his name on the Quality Control paper as the paper states, which is odd, to say the least.
I don't know what to do, I have no energy, that's how depressed I am. I got so pumped up to go out and play as soon as possible, I waited for the package, and then I got a defective product.

Here's my advise; relax.
There's a defect with the gun. The barrel is bent 1/16 of an inch base on what you said. That's very easy for someone to miss. Turnaround time is two weeks. They have a lot of customers, that time is typical of any company really. Yes you are out two weeks that means missing maybe one game. There will certainly be other games this year. You left school early because your so stressed out over this? Over something that will be done and over with in two weeks? Please see above. There are things worth stressing out about in life and what your describing isn't one of them. I don't mean to come off as a dick. I'm just saying to try and put this into perspective. If you go through life worrying about stuff like this your going to be miserable.

I agree with X. Not a big deal. Also, just go to a field and rent an AEG. Most fields do that. Bring your own gear, 1911, etc. and just rent an AEG. Better that than nothing, right? Get out and play, man.

When you send out 250+ (I'm guessing there) guns a day, it's hard to guarantee that every single one is perfect. Now That's no excuse, but the fact they're willing to fix it is what you should be more concerned with. They made a mistake, and they're willing to fix it. Keep in mind that your almost a whole country away, and that it will take some time due to shipping. This kind of stuff happens a lot. I had a shipment get destroyed by flood damage, and it took nearly 2 months for all of the insurance to be figured out before i got the refund. It sucks that you can't play bro, but the fact is it could be way worse.
in conclusion: I semi agree with X. You have a right to be mad, and to make that phone call. It's unfortunate they made a mistake. it sucks you won't be playing soon. But the fact is: they're fixing their mistakes.
As for the flash hider, mine came the same way. they aren't exactly high end items, and out of the 3 I've bought, only 1 even had a shelf tag. I'll send you a PM to talk about getting you out to play, but just be patient.

I have the absolute worst luck with airsoft shit being defective. I know you are bummed but you gotta chill man. It's definitely not worth the stress. Just be thankful you got your replica from a US distributor, dealing with overseas places is a nightmare.

Thanks for the advice all! The leaving class early sounded a lot worse than I meant for it to sound, I left like 10 minutes early. I'm just bummed cause I rarely get my hopes up, and all my previous online retail experiences have been 100% positive so this RMA crap is new to me, and I've never shipped anything out so that's a bit overwhelming also. It's also a bit stressful since I just started class last week and am just readjusting to college life, so I've been a bit tired/stressed. I'll chill out for sure, but I'd been on vacation for 3 weeks and was excited to start airsoft ASAP to enjoy as much of the summer as I can, and that put a stick in my spokes(isn't that an expression?). I'm still gonna call them, because I still think its odd that the QC agent who chrono tested the gun didn't sign his name like the paper asks for. I don't know if asking for expedited return shipping would be pushing it too much, but the RMA replies seem to be written by bots, so I'd like to talk to a human being about this, know what I'm saying? snafu I was looking at some hard knuckle gloves from an eBay seller from Hong Kong, decided against that. I try to avoid anything outside of North America, good rule of thumb. Not worth saving a couple extra bucks.

It doesn't hurt to ask for the expedited shipping. If They say no, it's no real loss. You may want to bring up the QC agent too, and make sure they know about it. If they give you some crap, I've had great success in politely asking for a manager or someone higher up. It happened with megastore, and It went over a lot smoother. I'll be interested to see what the other members say about this, but i always feel like its better to ask for things and push a little, then to just take it up the butt.

Not worth saving a couple extra bucks. If you are going to buy Oakley Pilots make sure it's the real deal. My girlfriend bought me some fake ones and they're horrible. They're falling apart after some light usage and one game. You can buy them from most Oakley stores including the one at Great Lakes Crossing. The downside is that real ones cost $70. TGLC used to sell them for $35. That was a steal. Sent from my XT1080 using proboards

Honestly from my past experience, I'd have to agree with X. I have dealt with several companies in the past about everything from fraud to defects to un-included items and if I learned one thing it is that the more relaxed and calm you are the better/faster your service is. Now that I know this I can get a problem resolved within a few days rather than a few weeks on most occasions (distance being a factor in the timing).

Puma1deuceThanks for the info. I'll definitely keep calm, I'm good at that, and if things aren't panning out my way, I'll ask for a higher up. And thanks again!

Are you sure the barrel is bent? Most M4 (and most other AEG's) inner barrels free float in the outer barrel with a very small gap. This is why many people wrap their inner barrel with Teflon tape like a barber pole. Usually the only thing lining it all up are the hop up wings that lock into the outer barrel. If one is out just a hair at the hop up it will be out a lot at the end. Combat Machine barrels suck anyway. If this really bothers you it would be faster (although not cheaper) to just order a better barrel from a semi-local place (Airsoft Atlanta, Crazy Cromag, Tiger Tactical) and just drop that in. Removing plastic flash hiders is pretty simple if you have a Dremel tool or the like. Just cut a deep notch in it (almost down to the threads) and put a thick flat head in the cut and twist. Replace with new one, enjoy.
The whole Airsoft GI chrono station has to be a lie. I ordered three rifles from them and all three had chrono readings WAY off of my Xcortech. Someone probably tests one in every ten and writes that reading down for the lot. I like to help out small businesses so I buy from the smaller shops. They deal with fewer customers so each one is more important and I get better service. If service is important to you, give the smaller guys a chance.
FWIW I would buy from Redwolf, Ehobby Asia, WGC, Den Trinity, Un Company, or Airsoft Global (all from China) before I bought from Airsoft GI. They have a much better selection and faster service even with the Chinglish. Granted they hit you with shipping, but they have the good stuff. If it isn't clear I hate GI. Took them a week just to process my last order and another for it to get to me from California. Airsoft Global got it to me in 3 days from China. The hell?

@theend I thought I wasn't sure about the barrel, but I've been looking at every angle, and it's bent. If I look straight down the rifle, you can see the orange stick out only on the left of the front sight post. Maybe I could upgrade the barrel later, but for now I'm not too interested in upgrading just yet.
As for the flash hider, I ended up keeping the one I bought, so once the warranty expires on my M4, I'll probably go ahead and cut the darn thing off. I'll have only a black flash hider on there for the time being, but later on when I get a Magpul AAC flash hider(which is my end goal flash hider), I'll paint this metal one orange, just so I can go back and forth, for legal reasons I guess.

I must have misread but I thought you were talking about the inner barrel. I suppose that is a different matter.

Is your barrel the combat machine two piece barrel? If so, it might be something as easy as adjusting the set screws on the first section.
