I'm soo conflicted.
Do I get this and have another shotgun that uses shells so I get the cool factor on my gear?
Or do I get a Marushin M500 and go full Magpul on it since it doesn't store the gas in the stock?
DECISIONS ARE HARD!

I'd wait for the reviews to develop on this. Multiple people are reporting that the 6-shot function is only letting them shoot 5-rounds per pump. TM is allowing Japanese buyers to have some internal parts (loading nozzle?) replaced free of charge since there were, apparently, installation issues from the factory. Honestly, I think it would be hard for a Marushin to be as skirmishable as an M870. Review Thread on Arnie's.

I got the clone of the Marushin m500 a few years back.I got the clone because I wanted it shooting 5rds of 6mm per shot, instead of 3rds of 8mm. I put some better action rods and an ATI Folding stock on it, and it's a great CQB gun. I used it at No limits 8/17/13 when we had to assault the castle. It could reach across the creek and into the castle easily. While pumping out 5 bbs a shot. Ammo wise it lasted all three rounds of gameplay easily. And there is always gas left over when it's out of ammo. I just thought I would recommend it as an alternative. Also it doesn't have a hop-up, so across that creek(40') and into the castle is about as far as it will go.

My bad, Hound. I thought Puma was talking about the Maruzen shell-fed shotguns like the M1100.
The ACM M500 replicas are probably the most skirmishable shotguns next to the tri-shots and now the TM M870.
From what I understand the M500 clones need some work out of the box (sealing valves, replacement pump arms), but once those things are accomplished they are excellent for CQB.

Obviously being ACM some are better than others. Because I've heard that others have been just horrible out of the box. But all I've had to replace was the arms. So mines been great. But your right. It depends on the gun, but it will need at least one fix.

Yea for skirmishablity I was refering to the Marushin M500 series not the Maruzen M870 series.
I do own a Maruzen and it's cool and I want to get it usable again (I got the power but the damn ejector is worn down to far and no shop has contacts with Maruzen for replacement parts even Red Wolf) but I want a skirmishable one and this TM 870 was a alternative to the Marushin M500.
One perk of the M500 is though that since the gas is held in the chamber and not the stock your not limited to what stocks you wanna run.

I wish they still produced the ATS single shot shotguns made by CAW rebranded by Echo1. Those seemed like really good performers, even at range.

Are you refering to things like the Echo1 M1014? That was one of those rebranded CAWs wasn't it?

What about those G&P shotguns? Aren't they designed to be single shot. I mean I know that the internals for the first few runs were supposdly pretty spotty but that they picked things up after a while.

I hear the spring is to hot for CQB unless it's cut down. But nice externals. And it's takes mags instead of shells. Which isn't a huge deal because they are flush fit.

Hopefully a shorter barrel version will be available soon. Since it seems like you will pretty much have to have a full stock, cutting those corners in CQB is going to be tough with basically a musket sized gun. Pistol grip would be nice too.
Regardless, I see this as a step in the right direction for shotgun viability in CQB. Can't wait to see how far TM takes it.
