Hi everyone, I have been playing airsoft for a while, and most of it being cqb. I tech on my guns a lot, but one thing I am not experienced with is the clothes / gear that you gear junkies run and seem to obsess over.
I run a tan plate carrier and just a hoodie, but I would like to invest in a decent set of pants and and a combat shirt. I really love multicam, and it looks really great. I am not interested in m81, woodland is just to plain for me. Looks like all the new aor1 stuff is to expensive, so the only camo that is left from what I have looked at that I like is desert marpat. The clothes need to be able to take a lot of washes, I play hard and my current tan jeans get a lot of wear. I am a student, so I don't want to dish over a lot of money, so 100 bucks for both would be perfect. Right now I am really just looking for a combat shirt, and I think I will pick up the pants later. I think I will continue playing mostly cqb but I will also go to play outdoors eventually. Not sure how what the pants are like but I assume they are nothing like jeans. What do you guys recommend for me? And crye is out of my budget...

I don't quite understand what it is you're asking about. Do you want specific brands? Or are you looking for camo patterns? If you are looking for brand, Propper sells great quality MARPAT sets for around 100. I also suggest hitting up Ebay. Soldiers are selling their FROG suits (combat shirts and pants) for around around 80 for a set, but its mostly Desert MARPAT. Hope this helps steer you in the right direction, but the more experienced guys can give you more in depth advice.

If you plan on playing outdoor it might be a good idea to get a tan based set and a green based set eventually. You can sometimes get good deals through army surplus stores if you walk in on the right day.
A contractor setup can be helpful too for some events. That would usually be Tan pants and Black shirt.
Most of the time I'll wear an under armor style shirt that matches my bottoms. I picked up a green, tan, and black under armor knock-off from Walmart for like $8 each. You can usually find them in both short and long sleeve.

miairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newb&action=display&thread=25344Ahem... To add, since I don't really address actual brands in that guide, anything that is actual surplus should last a decent amount of time. If it's still in good condition when you buy it, it should be good to go for a while. Combat shirts are cool, but usually more pricey, even the surplus ACU ones often go for 50 bucks or more. Just get a BDU top if you're looking for versatility.

As for what I am asking, pretty much what brand is good quality and a decent price, a balanced ratio. I am about 90% sure the first complete setup I want to do is multicam, as I don't see myself playing outdoors until next year. I just realized that combat shirts are different from a Bdu top. I have no knowledge about the brands so I was hoping thats were the public could give some advice about. Thanks!

You can get Propper Multicam for 90$ at surplus stores. That's shirt and pants. You just gotta keep your eye out for it. Its always out of stock.

Check out Propper and Tru-Spec at www.bdu.com. You can also grab a Massif combat shirt in Multicam on ebay for $20-$30 pretty easily, assuming you're an average sized guy. Pair that with a set of new Multicam pants for about $50 or surplus pants for about $20 and you're good to go on the cheap. If you wanted to go the Desert MARPAT route, you can also get a FROG top for about $40-$50 and MCCUU pants for about $25-$35, again all on ebay.

So today I visited Joe's army navy for the first time. I went to the one in Royal Oak. I picked up a massif combat shirt and some unknown brand multicam pants. Overall I am very satisfied as I picked up a few other things as well. Spent 70 on both. My first complete setup should be done soon. The pants need some alteration as they are a bit long, and the shirt has a small hole in it, but that will be sewed up.

If you can, try to make the trek to Hubbard's Military Supply in Flint next time you're in the market for BDU's. They have some AMAZING deals on used camo, and blow Joe's miles out of the water. I found two like-new "used" Multicam ACU-cut jackets for $10 a piece, and a Crye-pattern FROG combat shirt for $10. Joe's had the same FROG shit, in worse condition, marked at $80.

Hubbards rules.
Also remember that multicam is often flip flopped between tan and green sides at milsim events in Michigan (not to mention banned at northern lights), and if u don't pay attention, you could wind up being on an opposite side of a buddy.
Get a cheap tan or green set as a backup if your intention is to play milsim outdoor events.
Just my $.02

Multicam isn't banned at Northern Lights. It is just not allowed in any form on the Renegade side this year.
