I looked into these a couple months ago, but I didn't hear many good things. Passive retention isn't bad, but these holsters apparently are.

Ok thanks, ill keep looking then. Any recommendations for holsters for a double stack 1911 with a 4" barrel?

I'm not very familiar with 1911 holsters, but there are a several brands that make holsters in that price range. Try g code, blade tech or safariland. You may have to watch ebay to get a deal on a safariland though.
I assume you are concerned about your slide being too wide or something? If you get a kydex holster you can always heat it to make your pistol fit, given that it is at least fairly close to begin with.

The slide shouldn't be too wide. It is just shorter, and the bottom is square like because of the rail. A g-code with rail looks like it should fit fine though.

A SERPA might work, Safariland should be good, and G Codes are pretty good.

First post he mentions he couldn't find a SERPA. Double stack 1911s are fairly uncommon in the real world so it is difficuilt to find a holster for them. You might look around for companies who make custom kydex holsters, the may have a solution for you.

CQT was going to get into the custom kydex holster making business. You might want to give them a call and see if they ever got that going.
