Hello everyone, I have heard from multiple sources that putting a longer barrel into a stock gun will actually cause some issues with fps, accuracy and reliability. But yet again other sources say that it simply doesn't matter as long as it's not a 150+mm jump, I'm asking for your thoughts here: I'm getting a JG r36k (6 holes, no int. Scope), and I wanted to install a 590mm 6.01/6.03 tbb in it(stock about 500mm), but have had megastore techs say no, GI techs say yes, and a whole bunch of other places say maybe.... So what are your thoughts? Im trying to make a long range/dmr support class out of it. Thank you in advance, pm or leave a comment

Long story short, as long as the air volume of your cylinder matches the volume of your inner barrel, you'll have no issues.

I don't know what type of cylinder the JG G36K has. If it has a full cylinder, you shouldn't have a problem. If it has a ported cylinder, you'll want to get a full cylinder.
That said, there's really no point in getting a longer inner barrel. In real steel, the physics of the exploding shell dictate that a longer barrel produces a higher muzzle energy and more stable flight trajectory. In airsoft, that's not the case at all. Once you get to a carbine length barrel, it's all pretty much the same. The expulsion of air through the nozzle is somewhat constant and doesn't work the same way expanding gas from an explosion does. You're only getting the push that you get, no matter how long your barrel is. Furthermore, accuracy is dependent on stabilizing the bb in it's flight path, which happens after the first few inches of barrel. Past that, the extra barrel doesn't do anything to improve the flight path. A bunch of PTW users on the PTW forum actually found that the 10.5" barrels in the shortest PTWs produced the best accuracy.
That said, JG stock barrels suck so you should replace it anyway. But I wouldn't bother going any longer. It's not going to change your performance one way or the other.
