My Talkabout radio always seems to have both iVox and roger beep always on, PTT or not! And on the topic of radios, does everyone need to know proper radio etiquette and jargon? Please list the model number. I will do the reading in the manual for you since VOX, Roger, and call buttons piss me off that much! If I can get those shut off in just ONE more radio, the waste of my time is worth it to me. I wouldn't focus as much on the jargon. The etiquette is highly important though. With improper etiquette, your team would be better served if you didn't have a radio. The only thing worse than no communication, is someone interfering with proper, important, communications. The big things to focus on are as follows. 1) Don't try to bust in, in the middle of other communications that are going on. Wait for a dwell in communications. 2) Identify who you are trying to communicate with. 3) Identify who you are. 4) Think before you speak. Condense what you are trying to say into as brief and to the point as possible. 5) Don't be vague when referring to location, try to use building references if possible, or coordinates if possible. Don't ever say near the trees, or in the forest. In most games that would be about as specific as saying your somewhere in Michigan, and about as useful. 6) When referring to how many people are left, or how many are down, make sure you specify whether you are taking about the opfor, or friendlies. Green/Tan would suffice as well. Don't sweat the jargon, it wouldn't hurt to know some, just so you can follow what others might be saying, but it's nowhere near as important as proper, clear communications.

I'd also suggest getting a compass (even a cheap one is of some use), so that when in doubt, you can get a fix on north and provide rough compass bearings. There's a surprisingly large difference between "Four hostiles near the pond walking toward the big building" and "four hostiles on the east edge of the pond, walking southeast toward the big building."

Tank, I believe I have the M350. I found the manual online though and turned off the annoying features that you mentioned. One thing that I didn't know about was Qt filtering; should I have it on or off? One interesting thing that I learned was that the Talkabout can in fact operate on GRMS frequencies at 1.5 watts. Channels 1-14 are FRS (low power) and channels 15-22 are GRMS (high power). Here's the manual for future reference: www.motorola.com/web/Business/Products/ConsumerTwo-WayRadios/Talkabout-MR350R-Two-Way-Radio/_Documents/MR350.pdf[EDIT] Those Lancer Tactical goggles look just like Flakjaks, so they should be full seal. They are fine for any airsoft event that doesn't require full face protection. [SUPER EDIT] I think somebody should make a radio guide that is stickied in the Airsoft discussion section.

That second link should be stickied in the newbie section. The video by X was really good too. +1 for that
