These have been around for a while. You used to be able to find them at Dunhams and other sporting goods stores. Probably still can.
I would not run these through any high-end AEG.
Having shot paintball guns for years, I can attest to the fact that paintballs break easily. Even minor imperfections in the shape of the round can cause a chop. The great thing about paintball guns is that they are easy to disassemble and clean, something which is not replicated with the hop-up systems and inner barrels of AEGs.
Again, I would avoid these.
Same thing goes for the "marking bbs" with the dust coating.

If you shoot me with paint, you better follow it up with a real bullet. If you don't, I'm going to track you down and beat you senseless with your own gun.
Also, cheating isn't that big of a problem at most MiA games. It happens, but not enough to warrant a wholesale switch to these for everybody. And one or two players switching isn't going to change anything.

^^I agree 100%! I don't want to have to try to figure out how to "clean" my PC, or any other equipment for that matter.

Using them in a "referree" role is a HORRIBLE idea. Like I said, potentially, but I know how paintball paint can ruin your gear. If it didn't then, maybe, just possibly, maybe. I guess it was mostly just some morbid curiosity that overtook me, since I had wondered about the existence of these only just recently. MiA is pretty exceptional when it comes to not cheating, which is one reason why I enjoy this community so much.

This is going back a long time now (like Gimp said), but I remember getting a bottle of 6mm paintball bb's that came with the purchase of a SPAS-12 spring shot gun that I bought like 12-14 years ago. And all it did was jam up my gun when I tried to use them.

Yup. I've used them too and all they do is break and gunk up your gun. In fact, I think I still have over half a bottle somewhere..... The only time I could see these being useful would be from a claymore or M203 but even then, you'd still have the issue of people beating you senseless because you got paint on them. But if you're like to plink around the back yard and try them out, I've still got some and you can have the bottle.

I had never seen or heard of these before, so I was mostly just curious.

I'd rather use the 6mm explosive BB's than the paint ones. Boom! Or in most AEGs, popopopopopopopopop
Ok, I jest. I wouldn't recommend using any non-solid BB against a hop-up rubber. Cleaning may not be too tough - depending on the system - but even so, the fact that you need to do that at all is avoidable.

I got a little 500 round bottle of them when I bought a spring pistol from Meijer when I first got interested in airsoft, and they worked decently in a spring gun. I wouldn't dare to put them in anything that coat over $20.

What gets me wondering if these would actually be practical is the video following the product info. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ciOD5rV7pt8#! The video addresses all the issues the previous 6mm paintballs brought up. I would never use them but I am sort of curious if these could be used in a higher end gun. They used a G&P Magpul that shot at 370 and they worked fine...interesting.
