I have a cm048, which is a vfc clone ak74. I was wondering what mags (mid and hi-cap) fit best in those who have owned a vfc/clone longer than i have's opinions? I have searched for a while and have not found any real answers on the vast infinite of the web. I don't want to buy a box full of mid-caps that don't fit, and then not be able to mil-sim with you fine folks.

Well, all I can really say is that it can be a trial and error process.
Some say MAG brand fit for the most part many of the clone models, I use quite a few.
At times you have to file a mag or the mag catch itself if you want to use a particular brand.

What Guts and Glory said is true, to make that price go down maybe test a few mags of a few different companies or buy one mag from different companies. Then when you find the ones that work good just buy a box set of them. That's the easiest way I know of. Might have to do some filing on the mag lip to get them to fit right though.

What I have found for ak's is that even if the mags don't fit, you can easily modfy them to make them fit and feed better. Some filing or cutting has worked for my cyma ak. This is a different case for m4's, as the magwell is qute different and requires more modification.
I can however, recommend G&p ak74 midcaps from evike. Be aware that they are a plumish color and a bit pricey, but they are good quality. My only problem is that they would not feed at 38 rounds per second.
