Any one tried them? I'm thinking about picking some up. How do they compare with the HSGI taco's or the ITW fastmag? Do you like the short or full size configuration? I'm thinking about mounting them to both my 1st and 2nd line.

I run a double 556 KYWI on the strong side of my APC, as well as three KYWI wedges inside the kangaroo pouch as a sort of DIY S&S kydex insert. After using them for the last few months I can say that I would gladly take them over bungee/velcro topped pouches. The level of retention is excellent. It's strong enough to retain the mag, without making extraction difficult. Another plus is that you can easily reinsert and move around magazines with one hand without having to fuss with a retention device. The magazines do sit quite low in the pouch, so if you index your mags with a beer can grip you may prefer the short version. Also, the double KYWI is tad bulky, minor gripe though.
Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with the ITW or TACO pouches, so I can't speak to their effectiveness.

Flam. How did you make the magazines stay put inside the kangaroo pouch?

I haven't tried the kywi pouches but since you mentioned the fastmag I thought I would chime in. I can tell you, I do not recommend the fastmag. I had one and I wasn't at all a fan of the rubber band style retention. I think that actually using the shape of the molded kydex is superior. I also found that when using metal standard m4 airsoft mags the plastic top part that is where all the feeding and whatnot would tend to get caught down in the bottom meaning I really had to yank to get the mags out. Oh yeah, and the belt mounting system on the ITW mag was complete trash.
Overall I think that the Kywis look like a really good design, but I have yet to give them a try.
