Planning to go to Op East Wind which means I need to start getting my gear. I guess I can't use my ASK-74 so that means I need to get an AK-74. What do you think would be the best over all AK-74? Here is the list of AKs I can use: www.operationeastwind.com/ak.htmlMUST be metal and real wood. Nothing fake.

I mean company/brand wise. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

D-Boys AK's have solid externals, yet CYMA's have better internals. Unless you're willing to pay more.

I would say Dboys externals are better and the intenals are the same as or better than CYMA, If you have a little bigger price range go with an Echo1. If you wan't a gun that will last you forever, get a VFC.

I have also heard good things about the G&G ak47's but overall I had had to choose this minute about which ak47 variant I'd have to say the Echo 1 OMG (RPK)

If you want real wood, steer away from their AKs, even the so called wood versions look like plastic.

Are you sure you got the nomenclature right for which AK you're not allowed to use? The only AK-74 variant not approved is the folding full stock, but the fixed full stock and folding skeleton stock are fair game. If you really wanted to, it would be far cheaper to get a different stock than a whole new AEG altogether.

Yeah, ASK-4, what's this? The AKS-74 (triangle folding stock) is the preferred setup, AK-74 is acceptable.
The best seems to be the LCT ones - VFC internals on absolutely amazing, sturdy externals - these run about $400 new.
The general feel I get is that DBoys is preferable to CYMA by a fair margin, but either will do. There's other options, of course - I've always been partial to G&G's products, good balance of internal and external quality at reasonable price, but I don't know if they have a sidefolder available.
And of course there's the GHK setup, reliable gas blowback with LCT externals. GBBs are definitely more milsim, but $40 a mag is pretty steep. On the upside you shouldn't need a whole lot at EW, the first time around I never shot through my basic load. The downside, besides price, is that you wouldn't be able to use your buddy's mags if it came to that.
