Plainly put, what is a reliable, somewhat cheap side arm that runs on CO2 that is well known and easy to find extra mags and parts for? I bought a CO2 pistol because it was only $40, but now I can't find spare mags for it really.

TBH Propane/Green gas pistols are much cheaper. Propane can be found everywhere, and it's like $5 for a LONG time. Well, plus the adapter.
G&G Extremes seem ok for CO2, but they pretty strong. KWC's Deagles seems pretty good though.
Propane wise, most everyone here hates WE-Tech, but they make some decent 1911 (Hicapas are alright too). KJW M9's are good if you like those. If you have the cash, stick with Tokyo Marui (Hint: TM 5.1 Hicapa) or KWA

I don't have the cash for a TM, that's why i said cheap, but thanks for the help. Personally, I just feel like CO2 is easier than green gas so i'm reluctant to get into it though i'm sure I will eventually... I might end up going for a green gas luger p08, or a 1911. Not sure as to brand types on the gas side of guns... Are WE Luger P08's any good?

Most co2 pistols shoot too hot to be practical. I would stick with a gbb pistol.

Then with that statement, what would be a good green gas pistol to get?

KWA ATP, Glock, M9, 1911, MATCH (anything KWA is a great starting gun).

KWA seem to be a bit pricey... looking for the more $100 range, are WE any good?

Propane wise, most everyone here hates WE-TechNo. KJW is a TM-clone I believe, and from what I've heard, they're more reliable and in your price range. KWAs are even better, if a little pricier. Take a look around the commerce section, not just here but on other airsoft forums too. There are tons of used guns that are much cheaper than new, yet are in perfectly useable condition. I snagged a WA Wilson Combat Pro with 3 mags and a nice case for $200 a while ago off of here. Just look around and see what you can find, who knows, you might find something really nice for really cheap.

My friends WE Luger performed really well. The mag was crap, but the gun amazed me.

It will be worth it to spend the extra $40 instead of buying a new gun.
