Is there any interest? I am wanting to host a game at Splatmandu that would involve Milsim, with small squads of 10. This would be a dusk till almost dawn event, camping, food, would be included in the cost, and all money would go to the Shelter here in Three Rivers. Not sure if the interest is out there...hope so, because it would be a blast to host. I am confident that I would be able to give those that want it, the event of a lifetime. Milsim you want...Milsim I can give you! I am also thinking of age limit of 21 or older...I know, I do not want to rule out the future of the game, but the liability for such an event is costly at best, if I limit it to 21 or over, a lot less. Please think about it, and I am sure with the help of those that have already contacted me we can give you a great event. Thanks. Ted.

I would be interested in it but the entire Milsim aspect off sets me a little bit because they normally require mid caps and I own none, since for some reason my M4 hates mid caps.

1: Don't play milsim games then. 2: You're not even 18, let alone 21. 3: This isn't the right section for this thread.

Moved to event planning. Stapo, there is a "report to mod" button you can use to tell us to move the thread =p

I'd be interested in a night game (or any game) at Splatmandu.
For a night game to be successful, however, it needs to be properly structured and supported. I'm talking about things like lanterns or glow-sticks at spawn-locations, well-defined objectives, perhaps the use of flares or other illumination to provide players with some ability to see and maneuver. Having the event during a period of clear skies with a fuller moon would be ideal.

Myself amd a handful of other individuals would be interested as well.
Definitely don't scrap the game, a lot of people I've talked to are interested on playing a night game.

1: Don't play milsim games then. . No I like playing milsims, I just always thought it was pointless saying that you can't use a high cap. It is going to take me the same amount of time to wind a 300 round high-cap as it would take to change to a 100 round mid-cap. Its one thing to outlaw the 2500 round auto winding C-Mags for milsims, another completely to outlaw the standard high-caps. I bought 5 mid-caps when I first got my M4, none of them fed right in my gun so I got rid of them. I've had nothing but problems with mid-caps. I have never had a problem with a high-cap.

The reason why mid-caps are preferred at milsim games is that they force the user to reload at least occasionally. With a high-cap the user has to reload much less frequently which means he can basically function as a sort of low-capacity SAW wherever he goes. If everyone did this the game would basically lock down as no one would be able to move in the face of relentless high-cap fire.
People also dislike high-caps because they rattle, etc.
Personally, I don't have an issue with people running high-caps so long as they are only allowed to carry one and no extra loose ammunition from which to refill. Using this formula tends to force people to conserve their ammo which limits the whole "spray and prey" aspect of using high-caps which people dislike.
Mid-caps are plentiful and cheap, especially for M4/M16/STANAG variants. There's no reason not to have a few.
A milsim game requires a level of commitment to the idea of "military simulation" in order for it to work. The general airsoft rule of thumb is that 1 live round = 3 airsoft bbs, so a 100 round mid-cap is about equivalent to a normal 30 round magazine.
I'd love to see a game where people were required to use low-caps (30 round magazines), but that'll never happen.

Thank you all so much for the input! First let me say I am sorry that I posted in the wrong area, my bad. Now, to address some of the concerns, we have and will be using four generators to light certain ares, we have lanterns and many other lighting effects to use, we used to put on a haunted forest every year so we have tons of lighting props to use. Also, as a club we have organized many games and many night games as well, yes, for paintball but the concept I think is the same, like chess and checkers, same board, diff game. I will be contacting those that are offering and will be sure to get the Airsoft game aspect. I promise. What would be the best time for the majority of folks that have interest? I want to work it around you guys and your other games so I need input. Also, what to charge? I want it to be a good fund raiser, but dont want to price it out of the park? Thanks so much. Ted.

Depending on the age limit I would love to attend. You should make people bring their own flashlights for safety's sake. Post the estimated date soon so people can put this into their calender.
@gimp: midcaps aren't always cheap! (SCAR mags $30 each!)

Ok, the date is August 24th 2012 sun sets at 19:40. What I would like to try is this, I would like each squad to sign up as a squad of ten. Each squad will need a leader, a sniper, and a medic. I will provide the field, maps, target information, recon photos, mission objectives, pyrotechs, observers(these will act as mobile refs assigned to each squad, that will assist each squad during game play, and keep it pure.) lighting, briefings, charging stations, a place to camp, and food in the morning along with the after game totals, and debriefing. With all proceeds going to the Domestic assault shelter in St Joe county. $40.00 per player is what I would like to ask? I think the squad idea gives those teams a chance to really find out how they operate given a specific mission or task. If you dont have a ten man team, join up with another smaller team for that night. As this is my first foray into this world I will probably keep the numbers small, just have to see how much interest.I can guarantee you will have experienced nothing like what I have in mind for you all. This event would be for 18 or older, no exceptions, and the true milsim player. Input? Thank you all Ted.

My input is to read the event hosting rules and post a properly formatted thread for this event.
