Okay so I have a few questions that I think could come in handy to anyone upgrading AEG's. What is the relation between what motor you use, versus the spring in your rifle? For example, a G&P M120 High Speed Motor and an M130 Spring.
Currently my M120 Motor pushes my M150 spring pretty easily, but it is heating up like crazy (I have a G&P M180 Motor on the way)
Does anyone have any advice in this area?

Depends on the ratio of the gears 13:1 puts much more stress on the motor because its forcing it to complete a cycle in less revolutions of the bevel. What does that translate into? motor heat and this is because of strain. I have never used a G&P m120 motor because I heard they have ferrous magnets is this true? Second I dont recommend any high speed motor exceed an m130 or sp120 its just to much and if your going for high speed please stay away from 400+ fps its just rude and unkind to people on the receiving end. Anyway to say a specific motor on spring + gear ratio is really not possible but usually a torque motor will pull any spring on any ratio gears.

I ordered the G&P M180 Satan Motor. It does not specify whether it is a high-speed or high-torque. Also, I do not know the ratio, how do I find out? My gearbox is the Aim Top Super Reinforced Enhance Gearbox V. II, with 8mm steel ball-bearings bushing.

The M180 is high torque. The number after the M indicates what type of spring it can handle, and therefore is built with as much torque as needed to achieve that. The stock M120 you mentioned in your other thread is high speed, which is why it was getting really hot.

If you havent touched your gear set the stock gear set ratio is 18:1 99% of the time. G&P m180 is a very high torque motor will pull anything back without a problem. I wouldnt go by the "M" rating because of the different gear ratios. Also it should be noted an Guarder Sp120 IS NOT the same as any other m120. Guarder springs are +10 higher then the stated so a guarder sp120 is actually an m130 sp110 = m120 and so on

I have an aftermarket gearbox. Would the ratio still be 18:1? Should I improve this, and if so, how? I really appreciate all of the help.

Try out the M180 and see if you're more satisfied with the trigger response, I'm sure you will be. If it still isn't as quick as you'd like, or you just want to bump up your rate of fire, install some SHS 13:1 gears.

Installing the 13:1 gears should give you near lightning quick trigger response. But along with this quicker trigger response comes more risk to the battery and motor system. I would suggest getting a MOSFET installed sooner than later, as it will save your trigger contacts, and your motor from burning out. Because of the lower ratio, the motor still has to work a few percentages harder than if you had a higher ratio, which can result in a voltage spike and a need for more current.

What mosfet should I get? I know nothing about them, other than they store charges in case its needed. Otherwise I'm lost. Does evike sell them, and if so, what is the best one for my scenario?
BTW, I ordered the Noveske Madbull Metal body with the Madbull Ultimate Hop-Up The insides, grip, RIS, and full stock from my M16 will be put into it.

Why do you want such a long barrel? Just get one that will fit in your outer barrel. And while you're at it, avoid the 6.01. Get one with a wider bore.
For MOSFETs, I'd recommend Extreme-Fire or a Hunterseeker Amory model (now produced by Mystikal Customs).
The AIM gearbox is crap but if that's what you've got then I guess you may as well use it. You'd be better off with a stock G&P or JG (or any decent TM-spec brand) if you haven't bought the AIM yet. Make sure you get a good lipo that will provide the motor with enough amps.

Mosfets don't store charge. When you pull the trigger on a non-mosfet gun you are closing a circuit. When the trigger contacts are about to meet an arc occurs between the two metal contacts. When this happens the arc will burn a very small part of the contact. This is more of a problem in high voltage and high current setups. Think 10.8V or 11.1V (and 9.6V to some extent) batteries and really strong springs. Over time this will ruin your trigger contacts. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_arcA mosfet has wires that run to the trigger contacts and separate wires that lead to the battery and motor. Instead of passing all of the current and voltage of the battery through the trigger contacts the mosfet uses a lower voltage and almost zero current. This eliminates arcing entirely. When the trigger contacts are closed the mosfet detects this and closes the main circuit allowing the battery to power the motor. This also reduces the resistance in the circuit providing a small boost in voltage which in turn gives you slightly higher rate of fire.

I noticed a significant increase in groupings from a farther range with a longer barrel. And why a wider bore? The "wider bore = more accuracy" thing is a myth. I have also noticed slight increases in accuracy when comparing the two. These are, however my own personal experiences. If it is a "fluke," then well, I guess I'm lucky. I read somewhere on here about a "scientifically proven theory" regarding shorter barrels being less accurate. The evidence that was given was the fact that when the BB leaves the barrel, it has to push the air out of its way, so given a longer barrel, there would be more air compressed directly in its path to push, resulting in a lower FPS and accuracy. Even I was slightly convinced until I thoroughly thought about it. HOWEVER, When the BB is fired, it is propelled by air, generated inside of the gearbox. When the air is expelled, it only has one way to travel, which is out the barrel. The BB is pushed by this large amount of air until it leaves the barrel, where the air, which is moving at a reasonable rate, can then travel in all directions escaping the barrel. At this point, the BB loses the "push" that the air is giving it and is traveling by momentum only. This is not scientifically proven, but rather a theory I have come up with. I'm open to any contradictions, as it is an interesting discussion. Que Airsoft episode of Mythbusters. *drools*

This is all dependent on the volume balancing between your barrel and the cylinder. Too long of a barrel, and too "open" of a cylinder and you start running into accuracy problems due to there not being enough air to push the bb through the barrel. Too short of a barrel and a "full" cylinder, and you're just wasting power. If you can get the right Cylinder Volume/ Barrel Volume, you'll see an increase in both power consitency, and accuracy. A longer barrel intuitively should give you a greater accuracy, but with an under-powered system, the bb has more of a chance of following an intrinsically chaotic bounce pattern through the barrel. This can cause the bb's path outside of the barrel to become irregulated and the air "pushing" it to not be laminar. The tighter the bore, the more the chance of jamming, and the higher times the bb will bounce along the barrel. The wider the bore, the more of a chance the bb will just ride/float on the "ceiling" due to the backspin caused by hop-up. This is a reason why the G-hop, and the R-hop are so effective at gaining range. This is also why a few companies are now marketing their 6.01's as their "power-gain" barrels, and their 6.03-6.05's as their accuracy barrels.

Hi there, I'm new in this forum, I have few questions so I hope any senior here can help me with it. I'm having a G&P m4, but I would like to know izit my motor izit match with the spring... Here's my setting: 1) G&P reinforced gearbox 8mm 2) G&P m120 high speed motor 2) Prometheus double torque gear (delayer added on) 3) G&P lipo battery 11.1v 1000mah 30c 4) Gate PicoAB with active braking MOSFET 5) Guarder SP120 spring
Remarks: Previously I'm using M170 devil jet motor, but it start to have problem, sometimes it jam, after that I've changed to M140 high torque motor just wanna make it slower, but the m140 even worse, now totally jam, I do still keep my M170 devil jet motor but in case it will jam sometime so I've bought a stock motor which is M120 high speed motor, cause my technician say due to I'm using Prommy double torque gear & guarder sp120 spring, it should be work fine without any issue...
Any suggest or opinion? Thanks!
