I have a wired to the front M4, and I am going to be putting a free float RIS on it. However, the huge PEQ 2 is the only PEQ box that'll hold the batteries I have, and I don't want to run a LiPo in it. So, does anyone know of any 9.6v batteries that will fit in a PEQ 15 box?

9.6v airsoft batteries will be too big. I saw a couple 9.6V NiMh batteries that will fit in a PEQ-15. Check on RSOV, ebairsoft. As I recall those being two sites that I recall seeing them on.

Why not just go with a 7.4V lipo and make your life easy?

Because, LiPos: A. Melt. B. Melt chargers. C. Cost more. D. Need a discharger.

Lipos do not melt themselves or chargers unless you do something incredibly stupid. They're also cheaper unless you actually buy airsoft lipos from airsoft retailers. And while discharging helps, it certainly isn't necessary. Not to mention that most decent lipo chargers can discharge as well.

Because, LiPos: A. Melt. B. Melt chargers. C. Cost more. D. Need a discharger. So much misinformation here. Sorry, but this is exactly what perpetuates the myth that LiPos are the most dangerous thing since dinosaurs. LiPos are like anything else, if you misuse them they can be dangerous. If you buy a good quality LiPo, charge and balance it correctly using a high quality device, store it appropriately and don't drain it past a certain point everything will be fine. For all those considering moving to LiPos, I cannot recommend this guide ( infectedairsoft.wordpress.com/tech-info/lithium-polymer-batteries-part-1) more highly. It will give you all the basic information on LiPos and more.

A: If you mistreat any battery it will melt. Try shorting your NiMH battery. B: Must have been a poor quality charger that was misused. C: Previous poster addressed this. But I saw a recommended lipo on the forum the other day that was $4. D: You should not have to discharge lipos anymore than any other battery. They are in fact less susceptible to memory than NiMH or NiCD batteries.

Also if you were really concerned about LiPo batteries still, you could try using LiFePo4 style batteries. This kind of battery requires an even more special charger though, so you have to make sure your charger can charge them. NOT all chargers that charge LiPo batteries will charge LiFePo4 batteries.
LiFePo4 battery chemistry will just render the battery inoperable when there is some sort of failure.
I've never used them for airsoft, but I've been thinking about putting a pack together for my M4. We use them in a product my work makes. One other unique property they have is that they perform much better at cold temperatures than LiPo batteries do.
