Because we're not a fan group for every monstrosity cooked up, or because we make references that are like, 6 years out of date?

I think it's because everyone is tearing on someone's individuality.
4-5 years ago, people would have thought this was awesome.

I think it's because everyone is tearing on someone's individuality. 4-5 years ago, people would have thought this was awesome. I suppose if you take that picture and that gun solely as an expression of individuality, I get you. But when you also include things like workmanship (the seam between the receivers), finishing quality (pain on the pistol grip, no flash hider, dirty cloth taped mag) and the overall these-guns-don't-fit-together-at-all-ness of it (floating receiver pin hole, cocking tube to nowhere), not to mention the poor quality of the photo (this one really should be against the rules, I just didn't think of it when I saw it and am not going to hit it retroactively), the gun just doesn't look like a good product. If he had found a way to merge the receivers seamlessly and mold the receiver pin hole and cocking tube down into the bodies more fluidly, I think we'd like the styling a bit better. If he had posted a more finished product, with a mag release, flash hider and whatever else is still missing actually installed on the gun, I think we'd feel like it was less of a hack job. And if he put some work into finishing a mag and cleaning up the pain on the pistol grip, I think we'd feel like he cared about it more. And prettier pictures always make guns look more appealing. I'm not so sure that we would have thought this gun was awesome a few years ago. If we did, it might have been more because our collective eye was less distinguishing in regards to details. But as it stands, there are a lot of little things wrong with this build and leave it severely lacking. Whereas, if somebody put together a well finished build of some Anime or sci-fi gun or whatever and put up well composed and well lit, we might not want to buy it but we'd probably appreciate the work a lot more. I don't think everybody has to have the same tan painted block II M4 to have a good looking gun. But I generally think that a gun has to have a certain cohesive and finished look to be a good looking gun. I just don't see it here.

I agree with certain points, but I was under the assumption that he was to finish the Replica and get some more pics. Kind of a WIP picture. Now, I could be completely wrong, but that's what I think.

So much for constructive criticism. There really needs to be a rule on this sub board that stops the flaming. This is sad. Just because something doesn't look good to you doesn't mean it doesn't look good to someone else. If all you guys are going to post is retarded ass images that are completely irrelevant, complain about how ugly something is and how much you hate it, or generally be an asshole, then kindly fuck off.
It's really not that difficult to not be rude, and quite frankly, I've been seeing a lot of shit that normally wouldn't fly being said by mods. Seriously? This is kind of bullshit. You don't need to like something, but is it really too much to ask to not be a fucking dick? God damn. It's called constructive criticism, instead of saying,
"Oh my god that's the ugliest gun I've ever seen, burn it to hell. (Insert completely fucking stupid image here about how much fail the person/gun is.)"
Why don't you try saying,
"Good try, but I would try this; (Insert actually useful information that's not a bunch of bullshit from some idiot who thinks his shits so much better than everyone elses.)"
If I offend someone, good. You deserve it, because your obviously one of the assholes who do the above. Sorry if I went off the handle, but I am really getting sick of seeing so much negativity on these boards. This is an airsoft forum, not fucking 4chan. Keep the dickery out of here unless it's completely necessary, which regarding this thread, is completely irrelevant.
KeineZeit- I vomited in my mouth a little bit. UNNECESSARY
Crapshoot- Ew. UNNECESSARY
Marshy- Kill it. UNNCECESSARY
Dev (aka Foxtrot)- There is no help for this monster. UNNECESSARY
Echelon- Sucks. UNNECESSARY (Seriously, fuck off dude. This post pissed me off the most.)
^All the above is absolutely worthless and is no help to the OP. All it does is show how much of a dick you are. Grow the hell up.

With all due respect, people know how this forum is run. People know how people expect guns to be. Hell, there is a thread that helps people take appealing pictures. He fully knew what he was getting into with posting his un-clean, un-kept picture.
Sure, maybe it is a work in progress, but take a look at trust's M27 thread. Even when he was working on it, the pictures are much more appealing to look at. The background was more tidy, Exc.

Even when he was working on it, the pictures are much more appealing to look at. The background was more tidy, Exc. I think Trust got more support for his project not just because he took better pictures, but more so because his is a replica of a real rifle. While it's true that the OP could have taken a better picture, I doubt it would have changed peoples' reaction towards the gun. He probably still would have gotten the same sarcastic and hateful responses. And since the only constructive thing that somebody who doesn't like it could really say is to put an AR-15 receiver back on, I think that "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" applies here. Props to Dahm and BM_5 for actually trying to be constructive. Besides them, the first real piece of constructive criticism comes from Knief after nearly 20 replies of flaming, which shouldn't be the case.

I personally think its cool, it's unique, and about as original as it gets. I would love to see some better pictures though, the whole workshop look around the rifle doesn't help. But yea the flaming on this thread was a bit much...
