Hi Everyone,
I was playing a CQB game at Eastside Airsoft last night and had a bb hit my red dot lens and shatter it. Not a biggie since it was a cheaper sight but I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions on how to prevent this in the future. Does anyone know of a red dot sight that has a shatter resistant lens or something that can possibly go over the lens to prevent this? Thanks!

Cut some Lexan or similar material to fit in the front. If you have an Eotech there are a couple of companies that make inserts for under 10 bucks or so. Ebaybanned and such should have them.

Otherwise if you have an Aimpoint or ACOG copy, you can get a kill flash attachment that goes over the front lens, should prevent any serious bb strikes.

^ That.
I had a bb hit my kill flash on my old aimpoint, there is a dent in the kill flash, but other than that, no damage.

Killflashes also perform their stated function. If you're using a sight that will take one, there's no reason not to use it.

Sadness for out of stock Most retailers are selling these now. You can pick them up from RSOV or EBAIRSOFT for under $10. As for U.S retailers you'd have to look around yourself to see who also carries them.

I've been looking everywhere on the interwebs, I can't find them in stock anywhere. Haven't had time to check local places yet.

That scope lens protector that sits on your picatinny rail doesn't seem like a good idea. When you have the plastic right in front of the sight's lens, you're covered from theoretically 180 degrees. However, if you put that plastic shield up on your rail somewhere in front of your sight, you can still take shots to the side.
Also, while doing that it also looks a bit goofy and you might get more reflections that way.
Just some food for thought.

That is true Dahm, which in that case, just getting a protective lens cover that fits directly on the optic itself would be a better choice. And they are also cheaper.

Anyone know of a killflash that will work on a SpecterDR?
