I know that running any business is a lot of work and risk, especially in these days. But I know a someone that has a vacant building willing to lease very cheap in the Flint area. Now, I know there are many cost in making something like this happen. Insurance, supplies, building material, ect. I have talked it over with some older man(not 15 years old) and they are willing to invest and pitch in. I also talked it over with my family(wife, family sounds less whipped ) and she is for it. My question is would anyone be interested in a CQB field in the Flint area? IF, it was operated correctly? Secondly, is there special permission I need to start up a business like airsoft?

This is my opinion and mine alone. For a good CQB field, I wouldn't be willing to drive to flint. For a good outdoor field, I would be. I think you can do a lot more at an outdoor field, and a lot less can go wrong. So that's where I would look to invest. But again, that's just my view on it.

I didn't think I'd get much customers from deep down in Detroit or West Michigan. I guess I'm kind of curious if there are enough players this side of Michigan. There absolutely no airsoft facilities in the Saginaw/Flint Area. Not that I know of.

You would have visits from the Kettering Airsoft club quite often, especially in winter. I also know that there are still a lot of people in the Davidson area that would probably be more than willing to play.

I know that I personally would go quite a bit. There are plenty of weekends where the only reason I don't make it out to an event is because I don't like the drive. Edit: should have said this before but I'm actually in the Kettering airsoft club . But unlike some of the guys, I live in the area so I'd be here year around.

Overkill, How many people are involved in your airsoft club?
blarg, Do you have a group of people from your area? How many play with you, if you do have a group?

I would definitely be down for something in Flint. I live right in Swartz Creek but can't drive all the time over the entire state. I know my friends (like 10 of us who play airsoft) would definitely be interested in an indoor CQB or an outdoor field, or both.

I'm in the Flint area and would be interested in a field. Would prefer an outdoor facility, but I'm not going to complain if a field popped up around here.
This probably isn't the best time, economically, to be starting a field. A lot of field owners nowadays (and usually) run the fields for love of the game not to make tons of cash. Airsoft is such a small community that I'd wager its awfully hard to turn a solid profit. Granted you could probably find land for cheap, especially in Flint. Of course, you'll probably need to discuss this field further with local law enforcement and check into zoning and city ordinances regarding firearms and paintball guns.

We have a club that is active throughout the months of Jan-March and July-Sept (3 month semesters). Our off section has several non-club affiliated players as well. AS it stands, we actively have about 10 solid players who play quite often, and another 10 in-and-outs who play on occasion. I would also contact the Davison team (it has some old SFOD guys), because they are probably interested.

We are definitely taking the process very slowly. I don't want this to bankrupt me or my colleagues. As of now, I am contacting some building owners. If I get a VERY cheap lease, I am almost certain it is a "GO"! I have also contacted a few youth groups in the area that would be willing to rent out the facility to help make this afloat. Again, no promises, I really want to see how much interest there is in the area. And if the MiA community isn't in on something like this...chances are, you will not succeed. I have talked to a lot of groups who would be thrilled to have a facility set up in the Flint area. I need more interest though! Please, send your thoughts and idea my way. I will take anything at this point to make it happen.

I know that my youth group would probably come out for some games. We have about 5 or 6 guys there that play.

Flint is closer to me than many other fields and even though I would prefer an outdoor field I'm defiantly interested in coming down and playing. There's about 6 or 7 more serious guys in my group that would probably come too. When do you think you'll be starting up?

As of now, I am in the process of seeing what interest there is in the Flint area. If there isn't enough solid interest, then I will not proceed in the facility.

Well I hope there is enough interest to get this facility going as I would defiantly make it out there. If there is enough support when do you think it will be ready? I'm not asking for definitive answer, just a guess.
