About 2 years ago I thought about doing a Grunt impression (as you can see below), but am currently doing my own thing. However, I'm still interested in seeing if any of you out there are running this and would love to see your kits. So if you want, post away! The most recent and currently relevant stuff starts on page 3 thanks to Relarz.
After doing some looking around for a good loadout idea that can be used in almost any condition, I've decided to go with a USMC Grunt loadout. I had originally wanted to go for a Force Recon loadout but thought that I wouldn't fit that role very well.
So with that said, here's what I'd like to get for a Grunt loadout as of now:
Updated list on Page 2
Can anyone give suggestions as to what to add, change, or remove? Or just post comments and such. Thanks.

Biggest thing to me is that you've got the wrong helmet at the moment. You need a LWH replica, which is a PASGT for all intents and purposes. You're good to go on the standard helmet cover. For the NVG mount, you need the standard mount for the LWH. Pretty much the standard rhino one, but I think that the metal bits that secure around the brim are different.
I would not get an M4, and if you do definitely not a 553. Those aren't something standard grunts get issued. I'm not even sure I'd go with an M4, from what I understand those are only given to Squadleaders?
As your probably aware the MTV is no longer the standard issue PC, but its still perfectly acceptable. If you want a more modern one, pick up a replica of the Eagle Industries SPC/Scalable Plate Carrier.

Thanks Knife.
I like the LWH better. As for the rifle, I already have an M4 that I plan to do a SOPMOD Block II variant with (not pertaining to this loadout). So an M16A4 is fine with me. And lastly, it was either the SPC or MTV that I was choosing from but I picked the MTV for looks. But anyways, the FLYYE SPC is a little more expensive than the FLYYE MTV, and as you said, is currently used. So that reason is good enough for me to get the SPC.

Dont forget to have your gear be a mish-mash of multiple different camo patterns. When I was deployed in 94 I was issued a choc-chip LBV with OD green ammo pouches and canteen covers. This on top of my woodland camo.

This on top of my woodland camo. First of all, I salute you sir. Thank you for serving our country. And secondly, I'd like to go with an up-to-date loadout so that when new gear comes out on the airsoft market, such as replicas like FLYYE, I can look like a modern soldier (except without the rank, and other insignias for obvious reasons). That being said, now a days, I'm seeing more and more current pictures of Marines wearing all CB gear with their Marpat BDUs because it works better for both woodland and desert Marpat. And I also like the modern weapons, optics, and attachments as well.

For a current loadout, the mix-match isn't so correct so much anymore. It still happens, but for the most part, coyote brown is the go-to. Also, a LOT of marine units have been testing ECH's (gentex re-vamp of the MICH), so a MICH wouldnt be TOO incorrect if you had an SPC.
Word of warning. Flyye AND Pantac's SPC replicas look quite incorrect and are way bulkier than the real deal. If you can, get one of those new Weekend Warrior ones from Ebaybanned, as the general consensus is that those look WAY more accurate. Or if you want you can hit up the Pendleton or Lejeune bookoo, and get a real one, but do that at your own risk.
If you're going to do a grunt kit, and do it as current as possible, an M4 would actually be somewhat correct as more of them have been issued by the corps lately (lots of 203 gunners carry them now, from what I've seen).
A decent place to pick up info on this stuff is just trolling around the Arnies thread for USMC grunt kits, and looking at the pictures, especially if they dont get flamed for shitty kit.

Thanks Relarz, I'll look into the plate carrier thing.
And I guess for my rifle, I'd like to get a SOPMOD Block I M4 because, like you mentioned, I have seen pics of grunts using them in the more recent pics.

On a more current M4, its not really "Block I" so much. Most likely, you'll find an M4 rocking a PEQ16A, an ACOG RCO or an Aimpoint CCO, and a Grippod. There's room for teeny bits of variation too, as lots of times, the only thing standardized will be optics and laser devices. From that point, lights and grips are personal preference.

Hmm... Thanks Relarz, that will be helpful when deciding on what to get.

Since this is already a pretty solid thread, I figured I'd bump it to ask a USMC related question:
What is the issue radio for the Corps?
I read through Knife's Force Recon guide and the PRC 148 MBITR is mentioned several times. Is this radio correct?
If so, can anyone clue me in as to which "dummy" MBITR boxes are the best in terms of looks?
Cheers,

They USED to use that British PRR thing (there is a clone on Gunner), but I've seen lots of Motorola probably UHF or VHF's for squad net, with the big pack PRC's for long distance.

I've recently found a G&P M5 RAS front kit for the M16 on Ehobby Asia that I'd like to get. My only question is that, is it a 2 piece RAS that can be seperated for the addition of a barrel-mounted grenade launcher?

Yes, it is. The reason the railing on the the bottom and top is longer than the side rails is because the side rails (connected to the top) end to make the opening for the barrel clamp for the front of your 203.

I never knew that about the M5 RAS, but then again I never took the chance to look at it long enough. Here's another pic
