Yeah its BS. About 10 years ago that drove a gun shop out of town. Its so G@y. Its a d@mn rich suburb, its not like we have to worry about handgun murders. Anyway its not a deterrant. I know at least one person who owns one illegally. We could argue about wound ballistics, but the 57 doesnt pack the punch of a .45. At close range (most likely) I believe they are more likely to kill sooner. Also, the 57 cant be detail stripped without a manufacturers course. Which is given only in belgium. In addition, it has no lanyard ring, crappy sights and the inner barrel (steel) fits inside a polymer sleeve which may be able to get water in between the 2 parts and rust the steel. It also cant be fitted with a silencer which is essential.

Touché EDIT: I should mention that the Five-seveN Tactical probably addresses some of these shortcomings.

really? ive never heard of the tactical. Most of that info came from a gun magazine article from a few months ago.
I want a mark 23 and silencer... because really, what good is one without the other?

good luck on the silencer... last i heard you needed the permission of the chief of police and a permit with a hefty payment. i think you need to show a need for it, too... sure would be nice, though...set up a trap in your basement and plink away with .45 cal subsonics... the neighbors would never know... ;D

it is a nice gun. carries 20 rounds in the mag too. Maybe its assumed that SEALS should be able to kill with one shot and not need 20.

SEALS are taught to never assume. Anyhow, I was trying to emphasize the CRISAT penetrating ability of the 5.7x28. Plus, subsonic ammunition isn't required for a silencer to be present.

I'm not prepared to explain the difference between a silencer & suppressor, you probably know the difference... I meant one of the two
