I've had my IBH for awhile now and I thought It'll be nice to add an rhino arm to it along with an dummy PVS-14. The only problem I have is the Wilcox style mount that is included standard to the helmet won't be compatible with the arm, I've seen many pictures of an IBH with the arm but usually the mount was replaced with a different one. I have seen one picture of someone who modded their Wilcox to fit the arm so I assume it shouldn't be too hard. Anyone out there who could give me some advice? I should be getting my Rhino arm this Saturday so I'm excited to get working on it.
Knief I have a strange feeling you'll be the first to see this so share me your words of wisdom ;D

Actually, I don't know a damn thing about mounting stuff to helmets. You want to talk to Knife, not Knief, though pretty much anybody on ODA 561 will be able to drop some serious knowledge on you.

The IBH mount is specifically designed for a special arm from Wilcox. There are no replicas of it and real ones are quite expensive and hard to come by. I don't think its feasible to modify a standard Norotos Rhino Arm onto the replica Wilcox mount. I don't have one of the amounts around right now, but I'm not real sure how you'd do that. If I were you, I'd get a new replica shroud, either a copy of the Opscore VAS Shroud, or a copy of the Norotos Universal Shroud. The universal might have trouble fitting a real rhino arm from what I've heard and I'm unsure of the VAS.

Yea you're right I should just stick to buying a different mount. The Reason why I thought it'll be possible was cause I saw this picture on airsoftcanada, i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj92/06782900/P1020319.jpgI thought I could be easily done, but it's nice to hear second opinions from everyone every now and then.

That guy seems to have made a custom addition to the shroud that allows the arm to click in. If you're proficient with making things outta metal you could probably do it, but it still looks fairly complicated. You'd definitely save time, and potentially money by swapping shrouds. I can't even tell if the arm on that guys is detachable, which is something that would be a rather large negative in my book, especially if you're just using it for a repro 14.

True, It may be an permanent attachment, but I wouldn't really mind since I do Umbrella and other military cosplays for Anime conventions (which has a lot of negative looks in many airsofter's books) Then again, maybe I should buy a new helmet with the correct mount for that purpose.

Yes, the website doesn't quite clarify but you need to make sure it comes with that little adaptor plate seen attached to the rhino arm. A regular rhino arm will not just mate with a Norotos mount, but needs that. It looks like it comes with it, but I'd make sure and email them.

Alright, after that I just need to drill 3 holes in and screw it on right?

If you're talking about the actual mount, it should just screw in to the existing holes. If you're referring to the adapter plate, I honestly don't know.

You may or may not need to as the holes that were there for the Wilcox repro could be sized for the Norotos as well.

Problem solved! Thanks for all your input ODA and GrinchBiscuit cause with the rectangular hole above the 3 smaller holes I was able to screw it in since the hole was wide enough so basically it's only the two screw heads holding it in place but I tested it and It's not moving anywhere, may not look authentic but it'll do for now till I buy the proper mount.
