Any gun can handle a lipo. That guy was right, it will increase wear and tear, which on a normal gun and for an owner who doesn't mind popping the box open from time to time to replace a gear, isn't a big deal. You, however, have a support weapon. That means you're going to be shooting a lot of rounds and using a lot of full auto (which in and of itself increases wear and tear on your gearbox). So while the normal lipo user might have to replace a piston every few months, you'll end up having to replace a piston every few games. It also means that every few games, your gun is going to malfunction in the middle of a game, thus ending your day. So you can run a lipo, just so long as you understand what you're getting yourself in to.
My real question though is, why would you need a lipo? Your job is to lay down suppressive fire. You don't need to be shooting 25 rounds per second to do that. It doesn't take more than an average rate of fire to keep heads behind bunkers (really, it wouldn't take more than a shot every couple of seconds, but that's not fun). You'll do a ton of shooting in a game, and go through a lot of ammo. There's no need to up your rate of fire with a lipo just to burn through twice as much ammo with no real gain.
Look at it this way. If you're pinning down two people behind a bunker while your teammates cross a bridge, and it takes them 10 seconds to get across the bridge and to the next spot of cover, you'll want to be shooting for all 10 seconds to protect your teammates. If you're shooting 25 rps, that's 250 bbs. If you're shooting 12 RPS, that's a far less absurd 120 bbs. You'll keep the baddies down just as well, but save over 100 bbs to keep their heads down later in the game (when your teammates are trying to get back across the bridge with the flag/bomb/hostage/etc).
