weren't they kinda like a cult? like...in the middle ages, all the stone builders and carvers got together and formed a fraternity...helping each other out in more ways than one?

Read "The Cask of the Amontillado" by Edgar Allen Poe. Good story that has a little to do with the Masons.

"The Man Who Would be King" was a movie in the 1970's with Sean Connery and Micheal Kain. It had to do with Freemasons and all that stuff. Fraternities are cool, join one now, they are not cults...kind of.
