Hello, This is my first post on this forum and after looking at different threads about Navy SEAL's I didn't come across one that talked about the load out for a SAW gunner so I decided to try posting a thread about it. I want to have a Navy SEAL SAW gunner load out, using the A&K MK43 (M60E4 MOD 0 I believe it is also called). But I can't figure out what vest/ chest rig they wear into combat. So that's my question, what vest/ chest rig do SEAL SAW gunners wear. Also, I will be playing in a woodland environment if that changes anything, and lastly, if there is any specific gear that a SAW gunner would carry, please list it as well. Thanks

Well, if you want something current, ditch the Mk. 43 for a Mk. 46 or, you can go through the hassle of trying to piece together a Mk. 48. But, if you wish to stick with the 43, look for photos prior to 2004. It should also be worth mentioning whether you want to do a direct action or greenside reconnaissance type of loadout.

Sorry, direct action is what I'm after. Thanks for the info on the weapon.

You wouldn't get far with that much weight on your hips if you put them on a battle belt. I tried putting 400 rounds on my battle belt when I was in country and it was painful. So to say the least its not practical.

Didn't mean for him to directly copy each items placement. I just wanted to give him an idea as we won't really ever see definitive pictures of any units unless they come out and say hi this is who we are and this is what we do and this is how we carry it. I didn't want to link a toy but that one was well put together outside of some practicality.

Sorry, direct action is what I'm after. Thanks for the info on the weapon. In that case, there is a really cool photo in this book with a team cat sitting with his platoon either prior to, or after a patrol and/or firefight. He's rocking a Mar CIRAS, with '60 pouches on the front, an MBITR on the left flap and another '60 pouch on the right, and he's running a Mk. 43 too. Don't recall where it was taken, but it was very early into either Iraq or Astan. Probably the former.

I'll try and get my photos off of my other computer sometime to aid in this, but what I'd run if I were you would be an Eagle Industries H harness, or copy there of. Since you're looking to run it in more of a direct action deal, I'd get a PACA as well, and wear that underneath. From there I'd just go with Eagle pouches, 2+ M60 or SAW pouches. Not sure if the SAW pouches will fit 60 box mags though. As GB said previously, you're a bit limited by the weapon as the M60 has been largely replaced in recent years, 2004 and earlier is probably a pretty good time frame. If you can nail down what time frame you're looking to base it off of, we can help narrow it down some more. I'd say there are 3 or so time periods to look at for an impression. The time frames being: before 2004, 2004-2008ish, 2008-now. If you can narrow down the time frame I'll get something more substantial up.
Trust, for the most part photos are pretty plentiful. Most photos that do get released of SEALs pretty much explicitly state they are if they come from official sources. Even if not, the type of gear they're running can be pretty much a dead giveaway as for a long time they rocked some fairly unique bits.
The 1/6th toy isn't that bad actually. It may not be practical in real use, but for the most part it looks to be pretty close to reality(as far as what they use), even going down to the leather belt. With that said, that figure is set up for a SEAL from around 2008 and to nowish I'd say.

I have also done a Seal support Gunner load out and for practical purpouses the Flyye Ind 1195J Seal Floatation Harness is a good one. The only thing that you would need other than that is a Similar color pack that you could put your Hydration bladder into and you will be good to go. The color is up to you. www.flyyeindustries.com/ArticleShow.asp?ProdID=0452

If you have the budget and you are looking for a truly accurate current SEAL saw gunner loadout, check out the pics about 1/4 of the way down the page in this link. gearsoc.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=114&start=540Eagle DPC in aor1 with eagle mjk m60 pouches on each side and a slick front for going prone. About 2/3 of of the way down the same page you can see essentially the same type of setup with an lbt 6094 (basically the same as the eagle dpc) with two m60 pouches. I would estimate that that set of pics was taken around 2007 or 2008. There are however, a couple of interesting things going on in the pic. For one, SEALs almost always wear mjk (Matt Johnson Khaki) gear, but in a couple of those pics they are wearing lbt 6094s in coyote brown. They are also wearing usmc FROG pants and shirts I believe, since aor1 was in short supply at first. The thing to remember is that coyote brown and FROG are not normal for SEALs. If you do an exact copy of everything those guys are wearing, it would be sweet, but you can't expect to be able to wear Coyote brown and FROG and call it an accurate SEAL loadout.
