I've been drafting a U.S. Army loadout, but I've hit a few bumps. First, if I were to purchase a plate carrier/vest, would it be more accurate to purchase it in khaki or coyote? Or some other color/pattern? And, out of the several varieties of plate carriers/vests, is there a specific one I should look at? I saw this one on another thread and I think it looks pretty nice. www.shootercbgear.com/product_info.php?products_id=676But, it seems like that is more marine-oriented. So is there any other accurate plate carrier set (preferably with pouches included) by a decent company in that price range? Or will that suffice? Now I'm not trying to get TOO specific and picky, just a general impression, I've got a relatively low budget for now. Thanks in advance for any help.

There are basically going to be a few different types of "US Army" loadouts:
Infantry Ranger Green Beret Delta Force/CAG/ACE
To do any of these accurately, it will likely not be cheap. If you want to go for an Infantry loadout and cheap out a bit, get yourself an ACU FLC and the pouches that go with it. Not technically accurate for someone who would be deployed as the FLC has no armor carrying capacity, but it would look somewhat authentic. Then, if you get an IOTV later, just put the FLC on over it.

Necropost: Don't forget the pogues Thor. Most people get issued a pretty standard set of equipment, but depending on unit SOP you'll have a bunch of special snowflakes, or everyone carrying the same arrangement of pouches, usually it's somewhere in between. Quite simply, you can probably get away with the following: - ACH/MICH with camo cover - IOTV with groin and throat additions - Rifle mag pouches - Strap cutter - IFAK (Improved First Aid Kit) - Camelbak or issued hydration system

Psy, fix that weapon! Haha, but he's right, you don't need anything fancy, most guys don't ever buy gear other than issued stuff.

This thread has been dead for awhile but I thought my question would fit here. I've always like the look of an RRV over a PACA, but wasn't sure what group uses it. Today, I was watching the TV documentary called "Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan". Yes, I know it's a Television show but it's still real. One of the Army EOD operators was wearing a Khaki RRV over what looked like a PACA. It could of been a different type of plate carrier, but I couldn't tell. Is an RRV over a plate carrier in the Army, common?

If so, then they are issued cool guy kit, and it's certainly not something you should base your ground-pounder kit off of.

From what I've seen you're not going to see many kits where they wear a carrier over soft armor. Most of them will be carriers that can hold soft armor too.

There are 2 EOD squads. 1 Navy, and the other Army.

Just caught this, the CCO was issued.
In case it wasn't obvious, that picture was taken in Iraq.
