I'm having an airsoft war planned to be on April-20-2011. If anyone would like to come... send me and my team a message *preferred ages 10-14* Location: *unknown* *Will find location later this month * "Relative" location area: Chesterfield Township Locked. I don't even know if I can tell you how may ways this is wrong. But I'm sure as hell going to try. 1. Don't call it a war. War is for people who have bigger testicles than you to go fight and die in. 2. Proboards is 13 and up, so 75% of the age range you are advertising to isn't even allowed to post here. 3. This was originally in the wrong section. Had you actually read any of the rules regarding hosting events, you would know that. 4. No one knows who you are, and even if we did, I'm pretty sure most everyone here wouldn't just show up to a random-ass place in Chesterfield Township, wherever that is. 5. From the sounds of it, you probably are planning on playing in someone's backyard, or on public land. Either way, we don't condone either of those things here. If any other mods can think of things to add to this, feel free.

Normally, I wouldn't post PM's sent to me, but in this case, I think it might be enlightening:
And,
Let me explain where you are wrong.
Being new here doesn't automatically exempt you from the rules. If you had any sense of how to properly behave in an online community, you would know that it is expected that all members have read the rules. Once you get into real life, you will find out that ignorance of the law is not a defense. Same goes for this place too. That's why I didn't give you a warning, and instead explained all the ways in which you could learn from your mistake. Other than attempting to use your mistake as a learning tool for the rest of the boards, I let you off fairly easily.
And while I may be grouchy, I'm not even 25 yet. I know, that probably makes me old as balls to someone who only ever remembers George W. Bush and Barack Obama as President.
Fact of the matter is, I could have easily have been a much bigger dick, or I could have let the rest of these jackals tear into you before I jumped in. In fact, you should be thanking glassarchitect for alerting me to your thread so quickly, otherwise I wouldn't have seen it until sometime tomorrow. And by then, you would have been begging for a mod to lock your thread.
And before you try and get smart and say that you have a "right" to post here, you don't. You're a kid. You have virtually no rights. And besides that point, this isn't a democracy. It's an oligarchy (take a minute and look the word up if you have to) headed by our benevolent dictator for life Hadoken, with the other administration and moderation staff making up the ruling body. If you don't like it here, leave. We've got plenty of other 13 year old kids who I'm sure will come and go long after you do.
I'm going to give you the best piece of advice you will ever get here: read all the stickies before you even think of making another post. If you do, you'll see why I'm right and you are, frankly, dead wrong.
If you think you can do it better, go start your own forum. Proboards forums are free. I can tell you from experience moderating this board and being an admin on my team's forum, it's harder than you think. Especially if you want to be able to find and share anything of real importance.
EDIT: On second thought, I am going to unlock this thread for a while. Please, feel free to reply to overkillairsoft, but I'm giving you all fair warning now: the rules still apply to you too.

I'm going to re-lock this thread. We don't need another outlawsairsoft thread going on. One troll feeding frenzy is enough, and that's all this is going to turn in to.
Overkill,
I want to explain that Thor isn't trying to be a dick. Airsoft is a sport in its infancy, and constantly on the verge of being made illegal. Because of that, we take a few things very seriously around here (as most large, state-wide boards do). The more we promote safe play, the fewer incidents surrounding injury and trespassing we feed the media and police officers. The two biggest aspect of safe play are eye protection and playing on legal land. "The woods" isn't legal to play in unless you have permission from the property owner to use it. State or city land is illegal to use for airsoft play. It's also irresponsible.
If it's land that anybody may freely be walking through, you run the risk of somebody walking through your game. That puts them at risk of being accidentally shot, potentially in their unprotected eye. But even with out that, anybody who stumbles upon a bunch of young men in the woods carrying rifles (because remember, that's what it would look like to them) would be wise to call 9-1-1. And if the police respond to that report, they will come in force. There was a game in the past here where the Detroit Tactical Response Team showed up in force, and a number of the players were one wrong move away from being shot.
Because of those dangers, we're tight asses when it comes to hosting events. We need to know that the host can legally run a game where he's running it, and that he's responsible enough to handle a potentially lethal situation when it comes up. On top of that, most player won't come out to your game unless it sounds like a good time--like you have a plan, a scenario, props, a way to break down teams evenly, those sorts of thing. Your post demonstrates to us that you don't have those qualities or any such plan. If that judgement is incorrect, then you ought to make a much more explanatory post and you'll be taken more seriously. If that judgement is correct, then you should come on out to more games posted on this board and see how they're run. I promise you'll have a good time, and if running your own events is something you'd like to do, you can learn a ton about how to do it.
