What exactly is it doing when it acts strange? Does it sound like the mag is running low on gas and the BB shoots out visibly slow, or is it more like something is stopping the slide from moving back?
Without seeing what the gun is doing I can't do anymore than guess what the problem might be. First make sure you're actually getting a full charge of gas in the mag, which I'm pretty sure isn't your problem, since this isn't your first gas gun and you should pretty much have a feel for it by now. I have read that the KJW USP inlet valves let very little gas escape, even when the mag is almost full, so make sure to fill until you get a little gas overspray. Also check the slide to see if it feels like it might be binding on something when it moves. It could just be an issue of the gun needing breaking in, seeing that it's made to less strict tolerances than the high end Japanese guns. Another possibility is "cool down" of the gas, which can cause slow or even nonexistant cycling of the slide. Were you using the gun outside or in a cool area? How fast were you squeezing off your shots? Perhaps with a little more info I can help.
