He could have gotten a lemon. Not necessarily Commando's fault. CA has been known to produce a lemon from time to time. I wouldn't blame Commando's right off the bat. True. But I have been told by an ex-employee (he quit working there) that Commandos buys used guns and repairs them with used parts and sells them "new". So I'd look out.

To my knowledge, I don't know of anyone buying a "new" (used) airsoft gun from there. But being that they are a third party retailer, I would look out.

I have a quick question, I just recently discovered a store called "Commando Airsoft Guns". The store is located in Garden City, between Ford Road and Warren Road. My question is, is this store related to the two stores mentioned in this thread? According the the owner he just opened a week ago, and he seems to have all the replicas that the other stores carry. I just wanted to ask before I posted a new thread. Thank you.

Sounds like it. haha I've gone to Commando's twice, and I will NEVER go there again! Rather order from Jay or online than to deal with Commando's.

Went into the Garden City location today. Pretty good selection of things ranging from LPEGS to high end AEGS. I was disappointed I didn't see a G&P though. I was also a little taken aback by the prices. $140 for a Galaxy Mp5k PDW for instance. I understand you're paying for convenience, but it still seemed a little steep for me.
After reading over the thread, I think I'll probably end up doing some business there, but if I ever buy a gun from them, I want one that's BNIB, and not a model up on the wall.

I too just stopped over at the Garden City location. While they mostly sell clone guns, there were ICS, CA, KWA and even one Madbull ACR.
Nice selection of high grade bb's (King Arms .20, .25, .28, and KSC as well as Javelin bb's), tons of UTG optics. Even a real steel PSO scope. A lot of GBB guns and magazines. Yeah mostly HFC but they do sell KWA GBBs.
Also a ton of accessories. RIS, M3 laser/flashlight.
They sell grenade launchers, 40mm grenades, thunder b grenades.
Most of the tactical gear was low end, but they do sell lower mesh face masks, which to my knowledge is the only local airsoft retailer I have seen sell them.
They do carry internal parts, gearboxes, and the owner or the person running the store says they also do repairs and upgrades. Did not ask for any rates or anything like that.
While I probably won't buy a gun from them, I will definitely go there for bb's, green gas, etc.

i love this place. My cousin went there last week to fix the M4 that he had bought online a couple of months ago...They had it ready and fixed for him the next day, and charged him just $30 to repair the gear-box! I, then, went there on Sunday and bought a Classic Army M4 (brand new in the box)... They explained all about it to me, gave me a discount on the BBs, and the 30-day manifacturer warranty! Very friendly staff and they certainly know what they are doing!

Oh My Lord. What BS am I reading on here. I've been going to this place since last year, and they're the nicest folks ever! They have everything in their store, and so I don't have to look on every single site for new products, and, most importantly, I get whatever I need right away and without having to wait two or three weeks to get it in the mail, and hopefully get it right. More than once did I have to return certain items to Airsplat, because they send me bad items that are missing screws or batteries, and, worst of all, they always want to charge me shipping to return the dammaged items to them. Being a team leader, I and my whole team fix our guns there all the time. Sam plays with us sometimes, and damn he's so good at repairing these stuff (and in shooting at us, too Oh, and when he repairs my G36, he at least fixes it right. I once gave it to somebody from Pontiac to fix it for me; he charged me $40 and when I went home, I realized it wasn't working properly.

First of all I think its a little odd that 2 members first posts were saying how fantastic this place was but that might just be me. I just went to the garden city location and I think it would be a great place to get small things but not a gun, BB's, Green gas, stuff along that line. Something I thought was quite odd was the price on 2 things mags and guns. I saw single mags running $20-$40 and the one guns price I remember was the KWA ATP for $175.00. The guy seemed relatively nice although it did seem odd that he had a "Must be 18 to buy" poster on the wall and he had tons of 11-13 year old kids in there and they seemed to be his regulars.

nightmissle,
Comparing their service to Airsplat and some guy in Pontiac isn't giving you a lot of credit. Airsplat is widely known as a disreputable retailer that routinely screws up orders and offers poor customer service after the point of purchase. And of course, some guy in Pontiac is just some guy in Pontiac. I don't even know where to start explaining why that comparison is pointless and misleading.
Commando Airsoft doesn't carry everything. No store can carry everything because airsoft isn't a profitable enough business to cover the overhead necessary to both store and stock everything. The major Hong Kong shops don't carry everything. The major stateside stores aren't even close. Local shops carry a minuscule stock by comparison. He probably has essentials, but that's very different from "everything."
I'm all for expressing differing opinions on retailers, it's bound to happen that some folks have good experiences while others have bad. But at least make a case that makes sense. Nothing in your post is convincing, and it reads like you're the guy's friend and trying to pump his store here. That hurts your case more than it helps.

First of all I think its a little odd that 2 members first posts were saying how fantastic this place was but that might just be me. I was thinking the same thing BM_5. I was imagining the commandos dude writing those posts while thinking that it will sway peoples opinions more than the posts of veterans on this form. I have been less than impressed with Commandos Airsoft in the visits i've made there. The few items that I've purchased from this store were either cheap, useless or the wrong part. I began to question the owners knowledge of airsoft when i asked him about the 170% springs, an he tells me that I would need to get a whole new reinforced gear box, and it would shot about 800 FPS (my eyes began to roll). A store owner should probably know the difference between a 170% spring and an M170 spring. I really think that the people who run that place should take some time to read some of the stickies on this forum, even if they are in the Newbie section. There is a wealth of knowledge on MIA that I think every Airsoft retailer should know.

I took a stop by the store. They did have a large selection, and the owner seemed nice enough (but then again, its a business, and if you aren't nice then you won't be in business for long). The prices did seem a little bit higher than what you can find online on the better sites (Evike, AirsoftGi, eHobby, etc), but you also have immediate access. Its not that much more expensive than if you were to overnight ship it.
While I don't know if i would shop there (I am very particular about what I get) I wouldn't discount this store as a bad sell. You need to be a responsible shopper. You should be asking questions about the product, if its new, used, display model, etc. Also, anyone who buys an airsoft gun without researching that specific model and/or trying out the EXACT replica before it is purchased to make sure that is in working order has no right to complain. If you play this sport you should be intelligent enough to know that the asian manufacturer tolerances are completely jank, and that some stuff just doesn't work.
That being said, the owner seemed like he was more than willing to work with a customer to show the customer his merchandise. Try something out in the store, go home and research it, find out how it should be performing, how much it costs on the internet, and then go and look at the item again. If you don't feel comfortable or don't like it, you don't have to buy from him because that is your right as an American in a free capitalistic country.

I fully, word for word agree with Overkill. :-) Also, I, too, find it strange that while you acknowledge that different people may have negative or positive experiences with the same store, you tend to attack every person who posts a positive review about this place, which, in my opinion, reflects some personal animosity toward this store or its owner, and it's you who should answer to that, not me. And yes, I know Sam well enough since I've been buying my airsoft stuff from him for over a year, and I don't allow anybody to accuse me of being biased...And since you, Knief, are an administrator, you ought to be fair, and not offend those who disagree with you, and I actually thank you for not taking the very same path of accusations as BM..Many thanks! Also, I buy my MGS from Commandos all the time...and they're priced at $35, whereas they're $32 online...Personally, I much rather spend the 3 extra dollars and save shipping fees + three-week wait time., to hopefully get the right MG and I don’t think that I’m alone in the preference. And when it comes to pricing, I didn’t say that Commandos are cheaper than Airsplat, they are a little more expensive. Isn't it, however, still better to pay the couple extra bucks for instant possession of the gun, better customer service, and for making sure that you have the right gun and in a working order? I think so, and you certainly have the right to disagree with me (I perfectly respect your opinion, too). Oh, and by the way, I just called Sam and asked about the KWA ATP and I found it for $140, while it's priced for $129.99 on Airsplat and Evike: are we talking about the same gun, or is there, perhaps, a miscommunication? (PS), Knief: this store has three different locations and I don't think that they need me to bump their business, and yes, I do care for them, because if they were to close, I would have to find another local store to get my airsoft stuff, and I don't know of any other. Oh, and by the way, when I said "everything," I meant by it the same thing that BM meant when he spoke of "the tons of 11 and 13 year-olds in the store.
