For the M4 lovers out there I have a question. This will most likely be all personal preference. My two options for optics on my cqbr are the following.
- G&P ACOG
- EOtech replica with a 3x magnifier
After using magnified optics I really can't go back. To me it's a must have for large outdoor events.
Just to clarify the reason I ask is due to me never seeing anyone use an acog on a cqbr.
Sorry this was originally posted in the wrong thread knief!

What are you actually asking? Which one will look better? Which one will perform better? Performance is very dependent on what brand you get and if the 3x magnifier actually lines up with the EOTech. Looks on the other hand... that's up to you.

Basically I want to know if an acog on a cqbr would be retarded and unrealistic.

Retarded... no. Unrealistic, maybe. If you're looking at what are you most likely going to see currently, then I'd probably go with a Specter DR.
But, it wouldn't be at all implausible to use an ACOG with a Docter sight mounted on top. That's actually the whole point of the Docter, use in CQB.

Yeah CQBR beat me with visual proof but I was going to say it's not unrealistic at all as I've seen soldiers in video clips, and in various pictures using ACOGs on CQB length M4s. It's really going to come down to personal preference and functionality. Would you use a 4x32 ACOG on a CQBR for indoor CQB? Probably not. You wouldn't need the 4x zoom... maybe a 1x if you want. But you would most likely want to use an Eotech for indoor, or a more open sight. But again personal preference. The cool thing is if you get an optic like an Eotech replica (a good one at that) you can always use it for indoor CQB, and then throw a magnifier on it and use it outdoor too. Which would make that optic choice much more versatile. Which you know that because you used my 3x magnifier with my Eotech 553 on your G&G M4 I also have a 4x32 ACOG that I would definitely let you try on the M4 so you could see how both would work out to compare. Either optic won't be unrealistic. Just more or less what works better for you.

Thor, its not improbable or unrealistic. A lot of the British SAS guys have a 4x ACOG on their CQB configurations.

One feature of the magnifier that nobody has mentioned yet is that it doesn't affect the zero of the weapon. If you have multiple AEGs with red dot sights, you could buy one magnifier and move it from replica to replica.

Thank you so much for the input guys! At this point I still may go either way but I am glad to know that an ACOG on my replica won't be silly. Pics will be in the gallery soon.
