Seems like a lot of effort for very little. I think that your idea of simply sighting it in each game is gonna be fairly difficult actually. I'm not sure how much the magnifier is, but the plate is 15 alone. Assuming that the magnifier is 30 or so, that gives you 45 dollars to at least get something with its own reticle and zeroing feature.
To zero your device, you'd constantly have to draw dots on the yellow window until you manage find the right one. You're sight picture will kinda be weird, as the dot/reticle is gonna be lopsided in some regard almost definitely.
I really think it'd be worth the extra money to just buy a normal optic that doesn't require DIY zeroing.

I think now that you are right. I didn't even bother to check the price of the protector. I glanced at it a little and didn't notice the 1 infront of the 5.28. So I figured that it was a cheap $5 deal.
The whole DIY feel to this though, seemed cool to me.

I mean you could use the 3x magnifier alone and just kind of walk your shots in, but that is kind of spraying and praying.
