Hey, I've been searching for radios and I just don't know what each one will do for me. I want them to work with a ptt but I would like to get them pretty cheap. I borrowed some from a friend and they worked terribly. Overall, what is a radio that someone uses that does the job well?

Motorola talkabout radio's. Pick one and roll with it.

That's pretty much becoming the standard these days. On events on really large or hilly fields, they may not give you corner-to-corner coverage, but they're about as good as you're going to get without getting into FCC-controlled frequencies and power levels.

Hey thanks. I noticed there is quite a large range of pricing. If I go with cheaper ones, as long as they are motorola talkabout would they still work for airsoft?

Check the specs on them. Some of the cheapest ones may not have as much transmission power as the more expensive ones. Beyond power, they'll charge extra for pretty colors, rechargeable battery packs, weather radio functionality, and probably a bunch of other gadgets you don't care about. Edit: You might also want to read my radio information page for airsofters.
