If Phoenix can help in any way just drop a PM. PT can supply all the gas guns for competiton to make sure the pistol rounds are fair What would the policy be for photographers and onlookers? Would this be predominately an open floor with defined shooting areas or more of the indoor CQB facility? Obviously the course needs some space and can't be as open, but viewers are important in matters like this. Some people want to compete and others want to watch competition. On unlimited exit velocity; I think we should stick with field standards, otherwise the results maybe be skewed. In the event that someone managed to get pellet gun internals into a SR body pumping out 1200 fps the distance couse would have to modified, which could remove players from the competiton. Some people may try to "Max" their rifles, leading to more breakdowns, and in the event of an accidental discharge a super-hot rifle could cause a lot of mayhem in a more open/spectator enviroment. We should stick with the operating velocities we know to keep the competiton more appealing for everyone to participate. The more participants the more popularity and better prized, which in turn brings more people. You could always have a special event or entire competiton to include "super-hot" guns, but I don't think the overall policy should be no exit velocity regulations.

I agree with you KOT, I personally am against unlimited FPS, I think we should stick with MiA regulations. But like we said, this is still really in the first stage of planning. Arc just proposed this idea to the team a couple days ago, so this thread is just to gauge interest and get some ideas. But still, we thank you for your opinion.
As for spectators, how many people are really going to want to watch an airsoft shooting competition without competing themselves? Like I said in the Hellfish team section, I personally think we should make the entry fee pretty low to get a better turnout. I can't imagine too many people are going to come out just to watch. But in case they do, that's something we have to think about. We don't know what field this is going to be hosted at, so we can't say how open or closed it is going to be. If it's an outdoor field like No Limits, chances are that we could get plenty of safe space for spectators. However, if we have people running through the SFOD city shooting targets, there aren't too many great spots for spectators to be.
What do people think about individual and/or group competitions? Would people rather see more individual competitions, or like 3-gun (1 AEG, 1 shotgun, 1 pistol for example) comps we ran at Farmington?

I would very much enjoy a auto-rifle competition, room clearing, etc. And if the weapons are supplied for the course, I wouldn't mind sniping, or pistols either.. I just don't have either in my possession at the moment.

It is way beyond us to have rifles supplied for competitors. Hell half of us only have one gun, the other half have partially functioning guns.

If you got GBB's donated for your raffle you could use them for people to compete with and the winner could take it home.

This sounds pretty cool. A nice way to maybe get some people that either, a. don't have a gun (should they be provided on site) and 3. I know there's someone we all know that wants trigger time, or wants to try the airsoft thing out but doesn't want to be shot or something along those lines.
What ever is decided, depending on when and where, I would definitely be interested in going.

I'm betting I could get some of my gang to come down. I'm pretty excited about the idea!

It's looking like this is more likely to happen.
As we are still planning this, what day would you guys prefer, Saturday or Sunday? We just want to make sure that we get the maximum turn out.
Keep in mind that the actual date and location is still being finalized.

Either day would be good with me, if you make it close to me (no limits, or factory) I will go but anything more then 20 miles would be a deal breaker for me. Also $20 would be my max too. I could show up with +1-3.

Definitely needs to be a saturday. I'll have a nice drive no matter where it's at, so saturday is the only day I'd make it...

If you wanted to host out on the West side, I'm sure we could work out something at the Schoolcraft field (yes, we're getting it back) for a nominal fee (field owner needs to make a buck). I'll talk it over with Easy but I'm confident that he'll be on board 100%. I can also donate a bunch of cardboard human silhouette targets that are used for competitions along with the lil stickers to cover where a previous competitor had shot. I bought them all back when I was trying to do the pistol competition.
I've wanted to do something like this for a while, just never had the interest of a lot of members. I would definitely help organize it with you guys if you were interested. Drop me a PM if any of this sounds good to you.

I think we'd like to do it on this side of the state if possible, partially because all of us live on the east side, so it'll just be easier. But also partly because we have a pretty dedicated fan base out here, and we'd like to keep this in easy reach for the people who have supported all of our games (Kurt and Kjones, I'm looking at you). If this thing takes off though, there's no reason we couldn't take it to the west side for round two.
But that doesn't mean you're not welcome to help out, of course. There's going to be a lot to run come game day, and extra set up help will be appreciated for sure.

As far as paper targets go. Something cool would be to use "Orange Peel" targets or a similar brand so you can see hits easily: Or you could use the "bad guy" targets. www.amazon.com/100-Bad-Guy-Paper-Targets/dp/B0014VXB8WOr for even more fun! Zombies. Or would you do "steel plate" style shoots, maybe use pie pans? Something that would actually flip/ding like sheet metal. I would be up for coming to something like this. And I would say, regarding spectators, you do a wrist band system $5 or so for a wrist band, if you don't have one you don't compete. So you can watch. Just wear eye pro and don't complain if you get hit.
