The Hellfish are kicking around the idea of running a full-day shooting competition, and we want to gauge your interest. We would have a variety of different courses and events, ranging from solo and pair distance shooting to team building clearing. Individual course stipulations would vary. It may be hitting a set number of targets as quickly as possible, or hitting as many targets as you can in a set time limit. Some courses would limit the amount of ammo you could carry, while others would make you run your fat asses (or well toned asses, as the case may be) all over the field. We'd have specific events for different weapon types, as well. Depending on the participants, we could cater to pistols, shotguns, SAWs, or sniper rifles. We'd likely bring back the 3-gun events that we ran at Farmington, as well.
The admisson fee would most likely depend on what you all want as prizes. Props should cost a bare minimum, as paper targets are cheap and easy to come by. Ideally, we'd like to have a winner take home an AEG or GBB, but if you all would rather do it on the cheap, you could win bbs, patches, gift cards, blow jobs from Kiki or the like. It's really up to you guys.
So the question becomes, would you attend this event?

The top sniper 2 series was the inspiration to this, specifically the episode below:
The idea is players can enter in different categories using pistols, sniper rifles (bolt action only), full auto machine guns (like m249), shotguns, AEG's, and whatever else shooting at paper targets so we see the hits. We could have timed events, events where we limit the number of rounds, two man team events and so on.
Of course we'd like to have prizes but that would all depend on the turnout.
Another thing that will come out of this is bragging rights on MIA for the winners or the top 3 in each event. This is where we could really see who can shoot well and who is all talk.
If this event goes through we'd give you guys enough time to get yourself ready and you could even refine your skills a little more. It would also give us time to get some good prizes.
It's something different from the usual games but I think it would be fun.

Also, if we get good interest in events like this, chances are that we could get Evike, AEX, or ASGI to send us good stuff like AEGs or BBs to give as prizes. So if you would like to see something like this happen, please let us know!

We haven't settled on a location yet. We always have No Limits or our new found Factory, but both of those are limiting (despite the name). With No Limits, we always have to share the field with paintballers, so we couldn't leave courses set up all day, and run them all constantly. And The Factory is on the small side, so we wouldn't really have the room to do distance shooting competitions, which we saw as being fairly integral to the whole thing.
We'd like to pitch this idea to some of the other well established hosts in the area, like SOFD, PT, or even FLAK on the west side to see if they'd let us use their fields for the day.
We haven't planned any of this out in its entirety yet, but I would think that you'd see one large prize, and probably a second and third place prize for the main event (or series of cumulative events), and then some smaller prizes for the peripheral competitions. We'll have to establish the event structure before we can determine that, and we can't go that far without knowing what sort of players want in on this.
Also, please clean up your grammar in the future. Everybody's got to capitalize and punctuate 'round these parts, and us mods ask that you do as well.

I would love to come to a game like this. Do you think you would also offer a dmr category, and would you pay one time or would you pay a small fee per category.

That's entirely up to the people who want to make this event happen; You guys.
I like the idea of a tiny fee for each category and have multiple categories. DMR's, Bolts, Rifles, Carbines, Pistols. Say $5 for each category. You enter your name (or your team's name) into a list and we queue you into a rotation. Targets will be worth points and so forth to determine a ranking for the day.
When you're thinking of ideas, be aware of the feasability of those ideas. If we can't physically make it happen, we'll veto it.
Ideally, I'd like to have a range set up that has been broken into several sections for each weapon type.

It's still in the early planning stages so there are a lot of options on the fee like the one ghast suggested.
One other idea is fee for the day (maybe $20) to enter as many different categories as you want to do. It might have to be a pre-pay type deal so we can use the money to secure some good prizes ahead of time.
Also batting around the idea of having little to no FPS limit since it's all about marksmanship anyways and we're not shooting at each other.

Going along what I said earlier, you could charge $5 each or a reduced price if you sign up for all or a majority of them.
edit- Ya I like the sound of not having an fps limit.

If there wasn't any paintballers, I think No Limits would be great. You could start at the top of the hill on the L shaped field and start with a sniper rifle and run down to the little house and use a pistol from there.

If you wanted to do like a 3-gun competition, you wouldn't need a lot of space really, maybe a course 50 yds long (if that) and however wide you wanted to make it.
I would prefer a competition set up more like an IDPA-style match, shooting at static targets, with the shooter possibly moving through the course.
But, that would probably be a little pricier to set up.

Thor, depending on where we held the competition, it could be pretty cheap. For example, if we could use the city at SFOD for an IDPA style competition, you'd have enough obstacles already built to design a course around. At a place that's more open field or woods than anything, maybe not so much. But I think that'll be at least part of what we're looking at.
The way I envision this (which, of course, might not happen come game day, but we'll see), is a bunch of different stations that you can rotate through. Some would be specific courses (perhaps one IDPA, one 3-gun, one like the retreat course in the video, etc). Others could be more like a shooting range. If we have the space, we'll hopefully be able to set up a brief sniper/spotter challenge.
