Yes, this is for real. Yes, its based on the original classic. Not those horrible spin-offs. Me and a group of airsoft players/friends are working on an event that should be 90% true to the classic film. We got a lot figured out-but are still having trouble. I need your opinions and help on how to get this working. ____________________________________________________ The story follows an elite team on a mission to rescue hostages from a guerrilla group in Central America. Unknowingly, the group is hunted by an extraterrestrial life form. ____________________________________________________
There's your basic plot, watch the movie if you haven't seen it, for more info. So, in the event, we will have 2 main groups- *A Squad of elite special forces *The Guerrillas *And a mysterious, unknown creature(s),The Predator(s). Now here's the problems: how would the Predator(s) play in a fair way to all 3 groups. What weapons would it/they use if staying true to the film? I don't want this to be a scenario(hence the fairness), more like a 3-way Team Death-match. Also, should there be more than 1 Predator?
Suggestions and help please.

Shoulder mounted launcher firing foam rockets/nerf footballs, hooked up to a remote trigger. So, it would have to be compressed air, basically. Although, I think this game idea is going to be really hard just for the simple fact that your Predator will not have optical camouflage. That's what really gives them their edge. That, and being able to leap 20 feet into the air. I've been playing a lot of Aliens vs Predator on Xbox 360 lately, so this is fairly fresh in my mind. Also, I'll leave you with this tidbit: Alien vs Predator wedding. My fiancee said no. I might have to rethink things.

Honestly the idea sounds really good in theory. But yeah actually trying to implement a team playing as "Predators" I think is going to be really difficult.
What I would do is sorta do your own sequel to the original movie. I know you guys want to do something that's really realistic to the original. But to not try and have any role players or a whole team of "Predators" and just keep it as humans vs humans what I would suggest is setting up some sort of a storyline such as like right after "Dutch" trapped the unknown extra terrestrial and after he narrowly escapes the self destruction of the alien, U.S. Geosynchronous reconaissance satellites tracked what looks to be a meteorite strike in the general vicinity shortly after the blast.
Unknown to the U.S. intelligence agency monitoring this "meteorite" strike this was no meteorite strike but instead a landing of a second "Predator" landing craft.
Then you can be like, "Dutch" gets sent back in to investigates and after discovering there's a second "Predator" on the loose he seeks the help of the local militant and guerrilla fighters to save humanity by taking on the second predator warrior...
And then after the second Predator is taken down without self destructing you can add another element in the storyline and say unknown to the U.S forces the guerrilla fighters and militant fighters were secretly hired by a unknown group of Merc's whose sole objective is to recover the alien cloaking device to auction to the highest bidder on the black market.
Now you can have it like It's the U.S Special Forces vs the Merc's and Guerrilla and Militant fighters fighting for the Predator cloaking technology.
So now you can have these forces in play....
U.S Special Forces: Tiger stripe, woodland BDU's, MARPAT, Multicam, whatever you want.... Mercenaries: Contractor, three color desert, desert MARPAT, whatever you want... Guerilla fighters: civilian, militant loadouts, OD, CB, black loadouts, (no camo BDU's)
I think you could make it an engaging storyline, and get a lot more practicality out of it in terms of making it an event for airsoft.
But that's just my .02 cents....

If it doesn't have Gary Busey in a tinfoil suit, then this is bound to fail. Even with Jesse Ventura.

Have the game at night and the "Predators" have nightvision to make up for their lack of cloaking ability? ..I have nothing else to say
Like Thor mentioned, the cloaking is what makes the Predators the super 1337 D3lta Force aliens they are. Without that advantage, it's gonna be tough.

I have nothing else to say, this sounds fun, but ridiculous.
You could just have all the "predators" wear saran-wrap to give them that "glassy" invisible look.

If you could find someone to do it, maybe you could have some dedicated person go out and set up some SAFE booby-traps that are similar to the movie.

This would be a tough scenario to work out, but its not unreasonably difficult. Predators would have to be afforded some serious abilities though, and here are some ideas:
1.) Energy system of tokens or light sticks, which allow you to... 2.) Self heal 3.) Use a "plasma caster" (the triple laser shoulder mounted weapon, probably like a PSG-1 or something) 4.) Throw a bright Frisbee to resemble the "razor disc" from predator 2, anyone near it dies, assume auto tracking, etc. 5.) Could have the predator be the only one afforded camo or green based camo, and everyone else in contractor or tan-ish 6.) Could have an entire squad of predators.
The predators would have to be a more experienced team I think, due to their smaller number(s) and complexity of "the hunt". When you think about it though, you could also do a "hunt" style predator vs. prey game like...
-Start with one hunter, and everyone else is prey. Prey have to either hide, make it from point A to point B, or some other meaningless task. Prey may or may not be allowed to fight back with regular or sub-par weapons compared to the hunters (pistols?). When a prey is shot, they join the hunters team (different colored rags required I think, or hats or something).
Just some ideas, it sounds like a good game, and after seeing zombie games work out reason ably well (measured by the amount of fun I had) I can see this working with a little time and elbow grease to work out the dents, so to speak.
+1 for trying something new

Thanks for all the advice. Yes, this idea as a whole will be hard. The Predators I think I got now, but the way to make the 3 teams play out right sounds unfair. I mean, I feel like It should stay true to the movie, but to make it more fun, have it some kind of 3-way-deathmatch, so you have the "I wonder who's gonna win?" thing going on. EDIT- Also the teams are still as- *Guerrillas *Elite Special Forces *Predators

I would suggest going along with predator2's plot. If you recall, in predator2 the predators jumped into the middle and more or less equalized the situation. I would suggest going along with that notion and having the predators act to sort fo balance out the battle if one side was significantly out performing the other. Rather than have a 3 way battle I would have a 2 way battle with the predator helping the underdog out a bit, but staying neutral for the most part.

Exactly, Rel, exactly! The preds always go after the big game in the movies and comics.
