Due to the fact airsoft grenades will start appearing at events, I thought the MIA rules should be modified and adapted for the use of airsoft gernades. Here's something I came up with: Usage in a Safe zone: Please let me know your thoughts, I've added this to the general discussion so others may chime in should I have missed something, etc. NO DOT POST unless it's about the rule of using airsoft gernades. We don't need to hear about the skill level, etc, etc, etc. Thank you, -Sky EDIT: (by Munin): Typo in thread title corrected.

I agree. If someone beans me in the head with a grenade fastball-style, I'll be pretty pissed.
Good stuff SkyPilot.

BK thanks. Once I get a gernade tomorrow, i'm going to look at it... i'm concerned about the safety of the gernade in a safe zone. I've watched the instructions, however I need to see for myself. If someone already has a airsoft gernade, please post here on what saftey precautions should be taken.
Without looking at it, this point I'm going to say gernades must be placed into a fully concealed pouch while in a safe zone. A pouch would be something that can contain the gernade and BB's in the event of a discharge.
thoughts?

The problem is loading. If you are filling the thing in a safe zone, there is still a chance (a pretty good one) that it can go off and send plastic eye killers flying about. 40mm users know what I'm talking about.
Still, some are better than others. The grenades that use spoons and pins are quite a bit safer, unless you somehow manage to let the pin fall out. I completely agree with the pouch comment though, there is a very slim chance of any bbs being throw out if it goes off in the pocket.

I believe the tornado grenade will not fire until the bottom is screwed back on. Thats if I am remembering the reloading procedure correctly. So at least with that grenade there should only be the time between screwing the bottom on to putting it in a pouch that presents any chance of going off. That really should be only a few seconds.

Are Flashbangs allowed? I've seen them used at one or two MiA games, but I can't imagina that's okay.

Training bangs, maybe. But not full outright flashbangs.

I think it also needs to be brought up, for those who act before they think, that even if you through a grenade underhand, it is not OK to toss it over a structure. Most of them suckers are heavy! That could cause some serious issues.

No pyrotechnics allowed whatsoever. If it has a wick, don't use it.

Most people would probably say no, since it appears to use a fuse. Plus, that looks like an Easter egg taped up with a small firecracker sticking out the top.
Generally, anything that uses a combustion explosion is frowned on. A gas pressure system is better, be it from releasing green gas/CO2, or from the gass build-up from a citric acid reaction (these grenades are unreliable, fwiw).
