OK, I found a cool spot up here in the Wild Northland. Stumbled upon it while out plinkin' today with my youngest son. It's on State Forest land, not far from town, and has great terrain, woodlands and unique features. It consists of rolling hills, part of which were forested a few years ago so there's areas thick with 4 - 8 foot scrub trees (tricky cover), this joins up to an area of MI woodland with trails that go thru a valley, and there's a 2-track that goes thru the whole thing from the main road (which is a ways away). At the end of the road is an open area, and right as you enter the open area is an ABANDONED CAMPING TRAILER!! In the open area near the trailer are some depressions and some stacked trees that would make great cover. I'll see what permissions are needed to use it (probably nothing) if there is enough interest from the group. Maybe a location for a Nov. skirmish? Campgrounds and motels nearby for those of you who may want to stay over. I realized Nov. is hunting season, but we could skirmish in the middle of the day to avoid probs (or wear some hunter orange if folks feel the need). Let me know!

Skirmishing on hunting permitted grounds during hunting seasons is dangerous no matter what time it is, and I highly recommend it not being done. Sounds like a great spot but like you said its hunting season... During this part of the year it’s best to find private owned property with the owners consent. It’s a lot safer and there isn’t any chance that a hunter might miss that deer sending his bullet stray 500 yards and into Newman… sorry Newman. But there always is the chance a meteoroid might fall out of the sky and crush Newman… damn Newman, are you marked?

I'm afraid Newman wouldn't be safe on private land during hunting season afterall. You see, the 100 acres of forest that my family owns is frequented by hunters "just passing through", and "resting" during hunting season despite the myriads of 'no trespassing' signs bordering the property.
Poor helpless Newman, hehehehe

This area is "in the neighborhood" of our cross-country/mountain biking ski trail. The trail is quite a distance away for our concerns, but too close for a high-powered rifle. In addition, two paved roads are nearby, but not too close for our concerns either. Hunters are know to stay away from this area, due to the nearby traffic - motorized and other. I like your thinking Viking, you have our safetly in mind, and that's good. I doubt we'd have any probs, but ya' never know. By the way, if we do play there and we have an opportunity to bag a Newman, how does one prepare it? Or is it of trophy stature, and we mount it instead? Hehehehe......

Why does everyone bash on Newman? Is he like, a loser or something?

My understanding is that Newman is a fine individual, an upstanding young man, and a horrid shot <old man runs for life from young whipper snapper at next skirmish>. Really, it's just that he's presently in our sights. I'm sure we'll all get our turn - including me. As long as it's all in good fun, and we don't "pile on" too heavy.
Hey "Guess", you should register! The benefits are great - there's the AEG raffle, skirmishes in exotic foreign lands, free BB's, gourmet food at the events, couches & big screens in the Safe Zones, and the list goes on & on....
OK, OK I'm lying like a dog, but hey, it sounded good didn't it gang?!
[glow=red,2,300]Hey, I kinda dig the AEG raffle idea - anybody else?[/glow]

Not at all, Newman is a great guy. I just randomly pick people to pick on here and there; the only losers in my book are those who don’t register in the forums…. *hint*

Speaking of AEG raffles, www.AirsoftToys.com has raffles at almost all of our games, they are great. Luckily, we have enough people coming to our games to make that possible. At the last game, one of the guys won an m16-a2, but was nice enought to just take a Glock 18c instead so they could raffle off another GBB and we would get two winners out of one (he was the hero of the day!). They also usually raffle off a couple bags of BBs, and I throw in an Airsoft Ohio tshirt as a consilation prize. I think it really adds to the fun, and its a good way to get people to stay the whole day (the raffle is the last thing done). They have a raffle planned for this weekends game in Cincinnati, maybe I will finally win it. The only time I won the raffle, it was for the tshirt that I threw in.. thats irony for ya.

Maaaaybe once we start getting more people attending our skirmishes we could get Janus and his Airsoft Store (if he gets to it) to throw in a gun or two. heeh maybe. *me crosses fingers* I'd love one of those Airsoft Ohio t-shirts! *me wonders if I should make tshirts too*
