Well Chewcky, I'm sure that there are more people out there more so educated than me on airsoft. However, I can help you with some of your questions. Yes, airsoft is VERY cool. There are several places in Michigan within a reasonable distance of Novi. In regard to the pain of airsoft, you won't really know that until you yourself have been hit. Most people will say airsoft is less painful than painball (I mysleft have never been hit by a paintball gun). We always wear eye protection, regardless. And I have never heard of anyone being seriously injured by an airsoft gun. I have heard of people being hurt by tripping, falling or something like that, during a game. In choosing your airsoft gun, do some research and find out what kind of gun is for you. It is all personal preferance. Do you want a classic or modern look? Do you want a long or short range weapon? Do you want a big bulky gun that weild serious firepower, or something more light and flexible, easy on your back? Read up on certain guns; talk to experts. I myself searched on AirsoftZone Forums: www.airsoftzone.com/forums . After playing the game with springers for half a year, and reading many reviews and articles about the gun, I was ready to make my purchase. This was a great method, for me, of purchasing an airsoft gun. Don't jump in and buy a gun all of a sudden, fitting your certain finincial restrictions; you may go on to regret it. Renting airsoft guns will cost anywhere from $30 and up. Anyways, good luck to you, and welcome to MiA

If you checked my profile, you could see I'm from Grosse Pointe, Michigan (just outside of Detroit), along with like six other people on the boards. I think springers are great, you can read about them on this board under springers. Ten friends of mine and I began playing airsoft with springers almost a year ago. Once we all saved up more money, we all slowly began buying better guns (AEGs). So I would say that springers are a great gateway to get involved in airsoft. Do you have any friends who are interested in the sport? It would be great to have there support in the purchase of springers. One of my favorite springers is the UHC MP5SD3 available here at www.thebackyardsafari.com/Spring%20Rifles.htm . TheBackyardSafari is a great place to purchase springers.

Very nice post there Tempest, couldn't have said it better myself. Chewcky, welcome to the forums. What Tempest mentioned in his post is pretty much spot on, so I'll just add to that. We often have games down in Howell, which is about 30mins from Novi which isn't that far at all. I'm sure one of these days you can come down and check it out for yourself, but as for rental guns I don't think we have any as of now. Not everyone owns more than one AEG, but there are some lucky punks who do...so perhaps they'd be kind enough to let you use it for a game. Pain wise, I don't think it hurts getting shot tooooo much. During a game your heart is racing, blood is pumping from all the excitement you don't feel the pain too much anyway. Don't get me wrong though, you'll KNOW when you've been hit.

Hey there Chewcky I'm friends with TeMpEsT and am also 15. If you are looking at springers I highly recomend the XM177-E2 from www.thebackyardsafari.com It was my second or third spring gun I every bought I dont really remember but it was great. I've been out to Novi a couple times for hockey games so I know where you are. I also have the MP5-SD3 and it's a great gun. The G3 is crap! DONT GET IT! My friend has it and it sucks huge. Gear wise you should try to dress the part if possible. I used to just wear a black jacket/ KEVLAR hood, black pants and tennis shoes, but now I have a full BDU set with Woodland Camo, and H-Harness with various pouches/accessories, a boonie hat, drop down leg holster/m16 mag holster, and Vietnam Jungle boots. ;D My AIM is SiCkPoiNtE so if you have any questions just ask.

Chewcky theres a "MODIFY" button next to your posts. Click that to ad what you want to say instead of posting over and over again. I had the same problems when I joined the forums. Gear wise is up to you. Pick your own gear just make sure it's going to work well in your environment. It's not up to you to just got to OP: Rapid Response on the 3rd you have to clear it with one of the LK members: Duncan, Ed, or Keller. You can probably use someones back up gun or something at the event if you go.

Hey guys, is it true that spring rifles only fire 1 bullet at a time!!! What would be the point of getting a mp5-sd3 if it only fires one bullet at a time, thats bogus. Would n e of you recommend i buy an electric rifle instead for my first gun? i need some answers and u guys are very knowledgeable, thanks Chewcky PS. where can i look at some armor to buy? my AIM is TheRock3131

My opinion on spring rifles is that it isn't worth it to buy them if you have the potential of wanting to buy an AEG. This is because the springer will end up as a waste of money, meaning you will most likely never use it cause your AEG will be that much better and more. The spring rifles are large like real m16s or Mp5s and they only shoot one shot at a time, they are very plasticky and not realistic, they aren't very effective weapons, apposed to an AEG. I feel that a handgun makes good for spring guns, so if you do eventually get an AEG then you can use the spring gun as a side arm. The hand gun springers, costing around $20 or so, have basically the same effect as the rifles costing maybe $50 and up to $100. The spring hand gun may shoot a bit shorter, but it doesn't matter because there is only so much you can get out of a springer. I am only really talking about the cheap american springers, the ones that were just recommended to you. There are many different spring guns throughout the wide world of airsoft. You will want to check out how the AEG's look and perform at the squirmish before buying one because they are quite an investment, but, in my opinion, they are good as a first gun if you want to spend that much money. You will see a lot of spring guns and gas guns as well as AEGs at the game, which might change your mind, so you should definitely come. There is more information on geocities.com/lkairsoft that might also help you. Remember, this is only my opinion, so don't do anything drastic based just on what I say.
