Really really old thread
That being said, yes Yong does have a diffrent sense of humor. Most people like him because he always cracks them up.
We must be doing something right though because Empire Airsoft, not Young's Army/Navy Surplus, just Empire did a quarter of a million, yes million dollars, not cents, in business last year just off airsoft stuff and we mostly just sell guns.
Young gave me the go ahead to start buying more different stuff. More guns, parts, accessories etc and now we are making our own customs parts with a local CNC shop.
Always cracks me up when people bitch about in-store prices though. Just order threw the webpage, problem solved. Our prices are the same as everyone else's. Airsoft GI, AEX, etc.
People wine but but I want to just come in to your store and not deal with waiting for a shipment.
True story... So about a month ago I was looking fro a GARMIN GPS unit for my car. The W200 series i think it is. I look on Wal-Mart.com, I find one cheap. I'm geeked so I go to Wal-Mart and no joke, the thing was $80 dollars MORE in the store.
I asked for a price match.
Nope, sorry we are unable to do that. Wal-Mart.com and Wal-Mart stores are handled as two separate businesses. When you buy from Wal-Mart.com the prices are lower because of less overhead because its shipped from the warehouse direct to you. They wouldn't budge either.
Oh and so Wal-Mart offers buy online and pick up in the store right? Thats a scam too. Sure you can buy online and pick up in the store for a lower price BUT if you buy online and pickup in the store your order is not avalibile to pick up for a day or two because EVEN IF they have 50 in-stock, the warehouse still ships one to the store for you. Your online order does not come out of there current inventory. The stores inventory is the stores inventory.
They hope you just say screw it and pay the retail in-store price
So there we have it. Major businesses are now starting to do the same thing. Once one starts to do it, the rest will fallow. Give it time. Internet business is really new in the grand scheme of things. Major businesses are still unsure of how to handle it and they are slowly learning you can offer better prices online because of less overhead but in local stores, things cost more because you are paying for the personalized customer service, being able to touch it, see it, have questions answered and the stores have to pay all the employ wages, benifits etc.
Think our prices are high, go scope out Shorty USA and they do CRAZY! amounts of business.
Even if our prices are $5, $10, $20 dollars more in-store, they are will WAY WAY under the MSRP prices the manufacturers give us.
