explain how to uncap a modem...................... not that I would ;D Its different for different cable modems. Search google for your cable modem and "uncap". If you plan on running a website from a cable modem I wouldn't recommend it because it will be not only slow but the cable company will eventually find out that your running a server.

i remember reading a story about a guy in Pittsburgh doing it to his motorola surfboard... cable company came down on him within 5 hours and blacklisted him. now he can't get DSL or cable in his area...so he's stuck with 56K.

i remember reading a story about a guy in Pittsburgh doing it to his motorola surfboard... cable company came down on him within 5 hours and blacklisted him. now he can't get DSL or cable in his area...so he's stuck with 56K. The cable company will most likely find out. They did with my friend but he still has cable they just made him change it back. There is also a way to set it to uncap but not report it as being uncapped to the cable company. However I would not recommend this unless you really know what you are doing. Which I don't think you do because you are running a server and the cable company can detect that.
