Ok, please bear with me, but I have to blow off about this cause I just can't take it anymore!!! As a weapon collector and a real world fan of firearms, I am just about to snap. First there is M4 sniper rifles... Then, AUGs with M203 grenade launchers on them, next, freaking BATTLE RIFLES with suppressors. Of course there is also the M16/M4 support weapons.... Now, I just read a post on another forum where a guy put a suppressor on a M249!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhh, when is the misery going to end? Haven't these people EVER read a copy of Jane's? Haven't they ever looked at what real steel accessories are made for these weapons? What's next, further the bastard incarnation that is called the master key by replacing the shotgun with a Beta Spetsnaz? Or maybe a TRIPLE M203 mount with a flame thrower attachment.... I know, I know... To each his own, let people fantisize, yadda yadda yadda.... Let them have fun with the sport. I am all good with that, I'm not saying that realism should be forced.... But a M249 with a suppressor? Come on... Ohhh, the firearms purist in me is tragically screaming in the caged land of fantasy hollywood space guns. Sorry for using the bandwidth, but I had to let it out.... -Vitalis

Ken, I just had to comment on the M249 sitrep.
Some battle units in Afghanistan used the KAS QD silencer on their M249s, I just read it in a Police/Military Weapons magazine. KAS does *NOT* recommend doing this, but it actually has happened! Therefore, I guess this crazed yahoo guy was allowed to do it...kinda.
I do concur with your statements about the M4 support weapons/sniper rifles and M203s going onto any gun; that is just freaking dumb...hehe.

Real steel sniper/support M4! ;D. I found this while looking up the name of a US heavy barreled M16 support rifle; so I could rebut you. It is made by Diemaco for the Canadian military, so maybe there's some French influence there. EDIT: The culprit www.diemaco.com/

Ballista,
That is with out a doubt, one of the stupidest @#()*$#)( rifles that I have ever seen.
It is ALMOST as freaking retarded as a P90...
I would love to see someone use that in the support role. Barrel melting off, gas tube in the handguard twisted and melted....
A bipod and a beta-C does NOT make a support weapon... ;D

Bingo Vitalis a suppressor will not supress much sound if you are not using an sub sonic (ie under power round). Plus the life span of a suppressor on a SAW would have to be counted in seconds or bursts heh.

If it makes you feel any better Vitalis, I'll be buying an M60 after I get rid of my paintball stuff, instead of trying to make an M16 support weapon. ;D

Hehe, this is turning into the "Prove Vitalis wrong thread"! Check out www.specwargear.com/collectorcorner-2.html , about a 3rd of the way down the page. Mr. Cam has some nice pics of the AUG/M203 combo in use. Sorry Vitalis, but you can't attack my precious AUG! ;D

Minky, thy evil twin powers be sharp today. I too thought of that very AUG as soon as I read the first post. Was about to link to it also until I scrolled down and read your reply. Yar! While on the subject of over accessorizing, there are some times where plenty of add-ons do make the gun look rather pimpin. Found that over on the Japanese YAHOO auctions site and now I MUST once again own a G18C. If anyone knows what kind of stock that is please let me know. I'll just sit here and drool for a while..don't mind me. Oh and yes, some accessories are very unrealistic. Unrealistic is bad.
