Next time you're at a night op, compare someone's SureFire next to your MagLite, then tell me how effective it is.

Everybody listen to Munin, because flashlights dont work unless they are Surefire! The color red is impractical and im going to cry about it because im terribly critical of everyone else's shortcomings! Im sorry to be a dick, but your being terribly cynical Munin, let him have his fun, just dont play with him if heavily obscured mag-lites are'nt your "bag" If he has a Maglite, and its fine with him, hes the one using the gun, let him suffer from its impracticality anyway, if it works for you, nice gun man

Not trying to be a cynical dick, Josh. I'm just saying that while MagLites are great, durable lights for the price, they just don't have the output that a decent tactical light (of any type, not just SureFire) has. Fact. the difference is amazing, actually. Maglites typically have neither the power output nor the beam focus characteristics of a good tac light. Furthermore, in the picture posted, the light is strapped to the low mount of a scope rail behind the front sight post. He's since said that he's taken the front sight off, but that's not what's in the photo, is it? In the setup as pictured, that light is going to be next to useless, because it's not going to illuminate the actual area where you're trying to shoot (because the front sight post is casting a big-ol' shadow). This means that the light has neither the target illumination nor target-blinding capabilites that you look for in a tactical light. Plus also, it's pink. Look, I'm as much for gun customization as the next guy. But I want my customization to actually serve some useful purpose. Now that he's removed the front sight post, I'm sure it's more utilitarian. I'd actually like to see pictures of the completed sr-25 kit.

point taken Munin On the topic of the M16... I'm not going to scold you for not having one, but I agree, get a surefire man, it makes a hell of a difference My Hypocritical Critiquing: That scope looks a bit crooked too

Ya thanks guys I'm not offended at all. I was working on the funds of getting a surefire until I decided to make it into an sr25. I am not going to do it the easy way though (by buying a kit) I am going to use my friends machine shop (with his help) to make most of the parts for it. When it is done there will be no flashlight on it at all. I am moving out to Arizona so and there is plenty of light there.
