Did some work on the stock last week, hope to fit the motor in this Friday. I dialed in my hop-up today while doing laundry and WOW! It really puts BB's out there. My hop-up was almost completely backed out, however, so that's something to watch for anyone who picks one up. I thought it might've been busted at first.

[red] OMG Hyooj Post!![/red] [green]TL:DR:[/green] Hey, lookit 'da pretty pic-a-chures! I'm going to put this post here, because it is mostly related to the M14 anyway. While I am impressed with many aspects of the Tokyo Marui M14, the faux wood stock has begun to disappoint me. The plastic wood on the AK and Thompson look and feel better. As a stopgap measure, I decided to try out the Red Alliance Stock Painting Method. I am a painting nooblar of the Highest Order, but the instructions seemed simple enough. Here is the process expressed in a quasi mathematical way: + + = + The color of the new, painted stock is difficult to capture on CMOS, but suffice it to say that it is quite dark, but an improvement on the original. Still, it's not good enough, dammit, so I put a real wood stock on order. At the suggestion of Jacko, I purchased a [red]Big Red[/red] birch stock from the fellas at Fred's M14 Stocks. As it turns out, the [red]Big Red[/red] is the only type of real-steel wood stock that will work with the TM innards. That info comes by way of the Snoopy and Jacko underground. Many Bothans $15 dollar stocks died to give us that bit of information. My stock arrived in great shape, and although it could use a bit of cleaning and tung oil, is quite beautiful indeed. See if you can determine in which dimensions the wood stock might be considered "Big", as compared to the original TM. Oh, it's used, for sure. I happen to like the patina of age and love, though. Seems a shame to stab it repeatedly with a Dremel tool before penetrating it with Japanese electronics. But stab I shall - at 3500 RPMs, no less! And lastly, with the arrival of the TM M-14, the urge to go all Vietnam became overwhelming. With the help of Moore's Militaria (fatigues, trouser belt, name tapes [not shown]), Omaha's (helmet band & nape strap, boots, buttpack, watch, bandoleer), Cheaper Than Dirt (e-tool, demilled M60 rounds with links, helmet) and eBay & retail (M1965 gear; seven or eight items in all), I pulled together a complete early Vietnam impression. Again, thanks goes to Jacko for help in all this. From the front: From the back: Ready for action! Sorry about the quality of these pics. The tripod setup was a nightmare and I forgot to set manual focus on the camera, so the self-timer had the auto-focus set wrong the whole timeSo I have all this gear, but nothing to put in there. M-14 mags and accessories are thin on the ground here in the States. So what do you do when you run out of ammo during a game because you don't have any mags besides the standard that shipped with the gun? What do you do? You heave-to with the entrenching tool, dammit! Scary devil-eyes and wacko beet-red Irish skin not Photoshopped out for maximum hilarity.

None of the mags from the M14's (G&G, TM or AC) available are interchangeable.
