Ive been looking around for some vests that i could use but not too bulky. Im looking at a shoulder strap that can carry two Magazines and a pistol for $20. Should i drop the extra $20-40 for more? Do you guys think i need and extra pockets for a flashlight and stuff, or would that be good. Also, i have a AK47 Hicap clip, and the bb'srattle around. Is that an all hi-caps or am i not doing it right? Thanks.

carry as many pouches as you feel the situation requires. If a game is starting at dusk it would be a good idea to have a flashlight in one. MOLLE vests are very common and you can customize it to your liking.
About the Hicaps, too all my knowledge (Flame and correct me if i'm wrong bigmac) but all hicaps have the bb's rattling around inside them.

All hi-caps will rattle unless packed full.
As for pouches, the geardo in you cries out for more, but nothing makes him feel worse than having empty pouches. Only buy pouches with which you have a need for, otherwise, you'll just end up buying more mags and fall down that slipper slope into full-on geardo poverty.

about slipping into full out geardo poverty, get a vest with a fixed amount of pouches, 6 seems to be the right amount (for me anyways, I know some of you like to carry more mags than I care to count, or can count ) but if you find a good deal on pouches buy extras and bring on airsoft induced poverty at an early age, endlessly buying extra mags and pouches, at least you'll never run out of ammo and lastly, don't complain about being small, you get your BDUs super cheap when your that small ($2 a set for flecktarn, 5 with a jacket)

How tall are you? I ask only because at that size, you might be too small to comfortable wear some stuff.
An empty TT 2 piece MAV goes for $55. You can then add pockets as you like. Obviously that doesn't sound like a good deal compared to a $30 setup, but it's the last $55 you'll ever need to spend on a load-bearing chest rack. You can then add or replace pouches as your loadout changes. You also get top-quality guaranteed work.
Take a look at that $30 AK vest. No flashlight pocket. Fine if you don't need one, but what if you want one down the road? You either learn to sew or buy a new vest. Want to switch to an MP5? New vest. AR-15? New vest. Rip somewhere due to a weak seam? New vest. You see where I'm going with all this.

The only problem with the vest I use is that it doesn't hold G3 or G36 mags (but it holds the usual; MP5, armalite, AK, FAMAS, etc..) I'll use myself as an example, I'm thinking about buying a G36 or an MP5 (if I can find a job), I absolutely love the G36, but I'd have to buy some German web gear and some G36 pouches if I decided to go that road, but with the MP5 I don't have to get new gear because my vest holds MP5 mags vests are really limiting in terms of what types of weapons it's compatible with

Regular vests are, but the modular ones are cake. New gun? Spend $20 and you've got new pouches for the mags. That's all you've got to spend.

I was referring to your basic run of the mill standard assault vest without all the modularity

www.tacticaltailor.comTheir gear may not be quite as uberl33t as Paraclete's, but it's relatively affordable, damn well made, and they ship promptly.

A question on Paraclete: How much different is their "smoke green" from olive drab? Can you mix the two and not look too patchworky?

The smoke green color is quite close to Sage Green (the typical color of flightsuits). You probably could mix the two, however, the plethora of different shades of Olive Drab/Olive Green make it almost impossible to say.

Smoke green is significantly different from OD, but not so much that it's distracting.
If you're using all Paraclete pouches over an OD vest, the difference in color won't bother you...if you're mixing OD and Smoke Green pouches, it'll only bother you if you're anal retentive about matching, like a true geardo.
