I assume it works well in MI forest?
Man, I can't believe I didn't notice it at first, but is that an actual Afghanistan Pork Pie Hat?

Hello guys, im very much new here. However I come from a Airforce auxilary Called Civil Air Patrol. We wear authentic airforce BDU's. I would highly suggest to anyone to grab a set from Slefridge air force base if you can. Or purchase a set that come from the military. Although for me, im lucky enough to have access to our Local squadrons supply room ;D with that said, just a suggestion.
However for gear I like to use ( when im attually in the field doing practice SAR missions ) i like to use standard 24 hour gear, Web gear, Suspenders, 2 canteens, 2 ammo pouches, medical pack, butt pack. Very worth while and practicle setup.
I hope to grab a few more ammo pouches. and maybe a combat vest. To use for airsoft.
By the way, i was just promoted to C/SSGT ( Cadet Staff Sargent ) yesterday!

Hado I've been checking out that G&P FSBE since you first posted pics of it and have been considering changing from the BH Omega vest for a little while now, to something modular. The biggest thing that has hindered me is really not knowing much about the modular gear and also figuring out how much it's going to cost me:)(maybe I can't see the big picture or something:)) Anyways about how much do you have in the G&P FSBE and pouches all together as an estimate. As of right now I'm considering a simular loadout bar some places for MP5 mags which I don't notice(well specific MP5 mag pouches) and a few other things. Either way I'd be really interested to know about how much you got into that kit to give me an idea of what I'm going to end up spending:)
Thanks
Luke

Luke: Trust me, you don't want to know how much $ has been invested in my current G&P FSBE setup. Granted some items were bought cheap, others were transfered over from my TT MAV and pretty much everything was purchased slowly over a couple months. If I were to go to say www.lightfighter.com right now and order my setup it'll cost: $366.50 That price doesn't include my camelbak, nor does it include the cost of the FSBE. Price w/ FSBE (including shipping from WGC) = $453.50 Modular pouches may be expensive, but they're worth every penny. If I ever decided to change my vest (And we all know I probably will) I'd be able to just carry over the pouches so it'll save me lots of $ there. Another thing I should mention is that most of the pouches I have are made by Paraclete which happen to be a tad on the expensive side. You could easily save some money by going for pouches from Tactical tailor or BHI Strike. You could always opt for a different carrier instead of the G&P FSBE which could also save you some money in the long run. Not that the FSBE is bad, It's just going to get REALLY hot in that thing during those hot summer months. Honestly, a modular chest rig might be a better choice. For example something like the BHI Strike Commando Chest rig (See Jacko's pics), SOTech Hellcat MK1 or MK2, SOE Modular FROG chest rig, Paraclete RACK or even a Tactical Tailor 1 piece MAV. (The MAV would actually be your cheapest option) Too many goodies to choose from.

About heat: I can tell you that with my Ranger body armor (Which is fake and a little small) along with the chest harness made for a toasty Jacko a couple weekends ago. It was about 40 degress out and I was very comfortable. I've worn actual Kevlar over a t-shirt in the summer and sweated my ass off, but the real stuff is a lot heavier and a little roomier, so I think that a FSBE (over a t-shirt) wouldn't be too bad in the heat.

As for MP5 mag pouches, BHI's STRIKE line has a 3-mag model.

Interesting info I had thought I'd seen TT mag pouches a little cheaper than others and had rather planned to run mostly them. The reason I'm thinking about the Modular is I can buy peices at a time also as money permits;) Since I know I won't be able to drop $400 on any vest right now, though I wouldn't be against it down the road a little:)
That does though give me an idea of my *ideal* loadout and what it would run me, plus or minus a few pouches here and there. All in all I think I'll go that route, heat sucks but you guys gotta remember it's cooler up here even in summer:)

I'll second that (even though it was Jacko who turned me onto them in the first place ) The MALICE clips, quality, color, and price make them unbeatable.
