How does everyone combat goggle fog? I never had the problem until I bought some nifty new Bolle T-800s, which fog up like there's no tomorrow.
I made a custom 1" fan unit and placed it on my helmet, but it doesn't seem to do anything at all. It's doing the exact same thing as the wind, which is moving air through the goggles, but when I stop moving or sweat, the goggles fog up horribly.
I don't want to go back to the huge Spectra Thermal goggles...but they never fogged up on me in 3 (!) years.
Any great suggestions?

Cheapo anti-fog spray, maybe?
Honestly, I think goggle fog will be a problem that still exists even after we're all living in weird little space stations throughout the galaxy. You're creating a sealed enviornment with a clear plastic facing that will more than likely build up loads of humidity. Unless you're playing somewhere without atmosphere, I just don't see how you can really stop it. Spectra's don't fog much at all and that's because of how much space they give between your face and the goggles and how much ventilation they have, which is probably a whole helluva lot more than the t800's.

This may not be right on with what your looking for but I'm going to be investing in some "Wiley X SG-1" goggles, and if you look them up their much smaller basically a set of sunglasses without stems with foam that seals them right around your eye's and they are ANSI compliant very nice, so the point was because they seal only a small portion of your face they are said to be "fog proof" Might be something to look into. Good luck.

Jacko-the Spectra Thermals that I own have two lenses that are attached together, creating a "barrier" with air inside of it that keeps the hot air from fogging up the inner lens.
Luke-I might just sell my T-800s and do that. I'll go research those now.
Just bought some SG1's. I had saved up some money after being so distraught with the T-800s and decided to go for it.
All of the reviews are very positive...woot!

Right, but have you had your thermal Spectra's condense on you? I have (White Thunder, anyone?) and that's basically the same problem as fogging just to the Nth degree.

No. Three years of paintball and Airsoft and the only time any fogging occured was when I sprayed them off with the hose at Hell Survivors and then played a game immediately following that. That was only once! Sweat from my hair would drip into my eyes, but that's not the goggle's fault. Maybe you have bad luck, eh Jacko? I'll report back when the SG1's come. P.S. Can anybody find a Wiley X SG-1 review for me? I've only found a couple and want to see if there are any quirks I should look out for when they come.

The Bouton goggles from Galls, at a wopping price of 16 bucks, are probably the more comfortable, and least fogging of goggles i've owned. Granted, in the summer, they will fog up around the outer edge when staying stationary, for 16 dollars I can deal with as much. I know that Devildog has nothing but praise, after suffering from goggle fog prior to purchasing these, staying fog free at logical response.
One thing that will cause goggle fog, is wearing a balaclava. You need to make sure that the balaclava is covering your nose, and it is a "tight" balaclava. Without the nose being covered and it being tight, the air that you expell from either your nose or mouth, will come straight back up, and on/into the goggles, and fog them.

The SG-1's have removable stems and the others don't but thats about the only difference that I can tell and I would prefer the SG's for that reason I havn't seen many reviews on them for airsoft but I figure they seal your eyes and they are ANSI apec so what the hell they should work well. Hope that helps.

I used some scubadiving anti-fog stuff i got a gander mountin (Hunt, Fish, Camp...hehe), anyways that stuff works very good. it was a little pricey but it works, i think it was like 9 bux for a bottle the size of a eye dropper bottle.

The cheapest I have found them are $79.00 @ www.rangerjoes.com/Catalog/selection.cfm?category=main&id=2665 Though you can commonly get them for $99.00 I will say I'm no expert on them I ran accross them and liked them a lot more than normal goggles so I decided to get a pair, I don't have mine yet though I will be putting in my order in the next week or so. If you want a quick heads up on them once I get them in I can write up a quick review but I like the idea of these much more than other goggles that I was looking at. Hope that helps. Luke
