Hello All, The purpose of this post is a result of talking to various team members from around Michigan and everyone seemed to have great ideas for the potential of airsoft. With this idea in mind and for a way to meet each other and exchange ideas for furthering airsoft in Michigan and the region I propose a meeting of all team captains persons, and a designated representative. Some may argue that we already exchange ideas here on the forums, but it’s always better to put a name to a face, this also build bonds between the various teams. Based on the response, a location, and venue will be selected.
Team Captains or Executive officers Team representative please respond by leaving a message here and send me your contact information via PM.

Dude, I think you're taking this a bit too seriously. This has an air of the "Five Families" about it, and (I can only speak for the Hellfish here) we don't operate that way. The best way to put faces to names is to come out to games, and bullshit with everyone.
There are already all sorts of bonds between teams -- theres a special place in my heart bed for Timm, and all the other ODA guys are welcome to watch if it tickles their fancy.
We're more of a community than anything else, and we're not trying to run the airsoft racket.

I have a hard time taking seriously any team that has a captain, and especially one that has an executive. That's one of those red flags, as it usually fosters the kind of team attitude that most of us despise.

Teams that have any sort of official "Rank" position, in my opinion, is taking it a tad too seriously. It's all good to have a founder/co-founder, but I don't understand what the purpose of this "meeting" would be.

Wow, I do go to games, I only used the term "Team Captains" to get input from the various representatives, original post was changed to remove the offending term. The reason I asked, was that not every team goes to every event, so I just thought it would be a great idea. Obviously it wasn't, I have only lived in Michigan for a little over a year, but in my previous location it was successful, and over a period of time brought in representation from vendors to hear what the community wanted. I just thought that it would bring people together, since on the field most people and teams are concerned with playing the game. Sorry for making a suggestion. Tanks Andy

I agree about the rank thing, and the purpose was to just meet everyone off of the field, drink a few beers and talk airsoft without having to worry about getting ready to play. I didn't think a simple suggestion would result in the types of responses that have been posted so far. Tanks Andy

That's one of those red flags, as it usually fosters the kind of team attitude that most of us despise. Wait then why do we have to call you "executive captain majesty" every time we meet? Although I don't have a problem with a meet-up of sorts, knowing the different groups and people of MIA, discussing the state of airsoft in Michigan would be better handled here on the forums. Any kind of change or plans discussed in a meeting like that would have to be brought here and discussed anyways before it becomes something that everyone implements. A meet up would only result in a lot of bull-shitting and other things which I cannot mention in mixed company. Might be fun to do just to hang out with everyone in a non- airsoft setting but if it is meant to be a serious thing, it may not go over too well. I think I can speak for most people by saying that we love airsoft and we want to see it succeed here but we also don't want to take it to a point where it becomes more serious than it should be.

No, most of what my Marines called me when my back was turned can't be repeated on the forums. Even meetups will result in discussion of the AS hobby (please don't shoot me for calling it a hobby), but the general idea is to get together and have fun. Tanks Andy

What about those of us that have been around for a long time but are not a member of any official team? I agree that any discussion about where airsoft is heading in Michigan should be discussed on this forum so everyone can contribute.
As for just a casual get together to BS with a bunch of buddies..hell yes. Any high end strip club sounds good to me.

Or we could meet at a gun range! I know many of us have firearms, but many don't make it out to our MiA shooting outings though. I know I really got to know some guys here way better, after drooling over each other's boom sticks. It may not be the best option this time of year, since outdoor ranges where you can shoot the shit without being on the clock is the best place for this. But it would be great to see more participation at these outings next spring. I'm sure past of the cause was either location, or being uneasy with being around people handling guns when you don't really know their gun etiquette. I can tell you that gun safety was always taken very serious. For those that don't own any guns but would like to try shooting some, I know many of the people that have gone would have no issue with someone shooting their gun. I realize this might be taken as me trying to hijack this thread, but I can assure you that was not my intent. Just throwing out another meet up idea. I also do agree, even though attending games is a great way to "meet" MiA members, there is less time spent BSing and more time spent trying to get ready for the game. The swap meet we had this year was also a great get together, again though, a better turn out would have made it even better.

I think, from past discussions; one thing that Tank is hoping to do, which I appreciate, is to agree to plan events far enough in the future, then post on miadiscussing in advance, over a calendar, off the web, is not a bad thing - it will help avoid confusion and lead to (hopefully) agreement! That and to post events early enoguh, with a set timeframe, to avoid coinciding (I made that mistake a couple times) - and even though it is on mia, its easy to miss a post when you are overtasked.. talking in person, getting to know each other away from the field, when not under pressure to get ready, etc... and maybe us field owners can start agreeing to work together, using mia and a calendar, so that we host the "big ones" on differing weekends, which will allow players the option to go to any/all as they choose.. and to also have REC game regular week choices open to them. This wouldn't be a bad idea.. Having people from teams, players not on teams and vendors all come is a great idea, so everyone is represented.. and can contribute. Well... all that and drinking adult beverages... Guns.. wow.. I just dont know what to say except that Timm.. HIDE! :-)

Thad, Acutally it isn't what I was saying, I simply wanted to get the teams together to BS, drink beer and get to know each other outside of the field. Obviously AS will come up. It has nothing to-do with or about events, that's entirely up to the field owners...
