some of you may remember when merk321 said this.
"me and my friend ended up getting caught in out city park with airsoft guns... we were doing a skirmish just for the hell of it so we were geared up, they took everything do you guys know if we will get our stuff back?"
"or what could we possibly be charged with seeming as how we were there 15 minutes after it closed"
i know merk321 and what happened in the end was he never got his gear back which includes a d boys scar and a bunch of mags and ammo, he had to go to court 4 times and ended up paying a fine of 590 dollers, he was then sentenced to ten days in jail and had to pay the 210 dollar jail fine, he is now on probation for 2 years and has given up on airsoft.
remember that just because airsoft isnt real that other people wont take it seriously.
the only charge was disturbing the peace because some one spotted him and called the police, not only city police responded, county and state police were already on the way also.

Good. I'm glad to see that they did all of that.
Let that be a lesson for anyone else thinking about playing in public property.

Justice has been served. This is a good example of what happens when you don't play airsoft safely and don't play on a sanctioned feild. Thanks for the update. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a flamefest like the first time this popped up.

It's a shame people now a days lack basic common sense.

He should be thankful that he wasn't shot or fatally injured from law enforcement.
I hope he learned a lesson, and that anyone who reads this can learn from his mistakes.

He should be thankful that he wasn't shot or fatally injured from law enforcement. My thoughts exactly.

It's a shame people now a days lack basic common sense. Unfortunately, common sense isn't common.

I will say 17-20 years old. Anyone up to make a betting pool? I remember when I thought it was OK to play in unsanctioned area's,which I never did. But Redscout (recently retired) said, "Here, walk 20 feet away from me and pretend you have no idea what the F**k is going on as I shoot at you." Then I put two and three together, got 5, and realized that we could hurt people if we played in the woods near us. Don't get me wrong, I do shoot at the kids that decide to do airsoft in my backyard because they like to go in my neighbors backyard and break our stuff. And I don't want to be responsible because they fell off my roof. And since I only shoot em when they are in my yard, it is ok because they are trespassing and I am not using "lethal force" or aiming to do damage. And since they are using cheap springers, minimal force is required.

Well if they were 17-20 there is really no excuse. I thought they might have been tweens or something.

You do, of course, understand that if these "trespassers" are under the age of 18, what you are doing could very well get you charged with assault on a minor, don't you? I strongly advise you not to do this and just contact their parents immediately. If that fails to remedy the problem, post no trespassing signs and call local law enforcement for trespassers should it continue. I've had to deal with similar instances where I live and had to arrest some well-meaning individuals for doing exactly what you are doing. One individual was actually charged with child abuse in addition to the charge of assault on a minor. 6 months in the County Jail and 2 years probation for shooting kids with your airsoft gun because they were playing on your property without permission is a lesson I'd rather you not have to learn.

I have resorted to borrowing my grandma's english Mastiff instead. Signs are posted, and also a sign saying dog on premises.
I don't know the kids, but I know they aren't from the neighborhood highschool I go to, but its always to dark to see there faces. And call local cops? I would rather call Royal oak and wait the extra negative 10 minutes it takes for them to respond.
First time they were out there I was scared to hell because I thought it was a home invasion. It was right after the storm and we lost power in the area. Once I realized they were only skirmishing in my back yard, I threw a nice fire cracker outside and had my gun pointed at em'. definitely scared them the first time. But arrested at age 15 doesn't sound good for me. So I will have to find other ways to rid of them.

In todays society of no "boys will be boys", I appreciate your common sense to not call law enforcement. While what those kids are doing is stupid, I still don't believe its worth them going to jail over. Call the parents, thats how these issues should be resolved.

I meant me being 15 and going to jail... I could care less about them going to jail or not. I would rather not have my yard torn to pieces, trees broken, and a lawyer at my front door because they happen to get stuck in a snare trap... Yes, I have snare traps to catch raccoons, easy to make too.
Yes, I have taken them down since they have started playing. I just don't want to put them up and have these fools comeback.

I'd agree but in todays world so many parents could care less.
