While I was in the market for a new flashlight, I stumbled across a cheapie($31!) at dealextreme.com. I thought I might as well take a look since they advertise the P7-D, my newest flashlight, at 900 lumen. So, I did some research, and eventually, I found out that many people that buy the P7-D like it, so I thought I'll give it a try, but during more researching, I found that MTE has a big problem with fakes. Some companies in China copies the design that MTE has and makes their own version and everyone was giving the fakes good reviews! I thought to myself that there was NO way they were selling a legit flashlight rated 900 lumen at a price of $31. The real ones must be a whole lot better then than the fakes. So, I set out on a journey to find the real MTE lights since many of the other more expensive ones cost a whole lot of moolah, something I didn't have. I stumbled across a guy named Greg Mcgee, apparently the only real distributer of the legitimate MTE flashlights in the US. I went to his website and checked out some of his lights, and found the exact same P7-D, but it was real! He had another model, the M-2 in his fishtank, and it ran for more than a day underwater. So I was hooked and ready to buy both. I started to talk to him, and asked him to prove that he was the seller of the real deal. He tells me how you can spot the difference between a real and a fake, and shows me that he is the owner of the MTE trademark on the US online patent and trademark office. Sure enough, there's his name and the same address he shipped to me.
I was sold, and bought his flashlights here: shop.gregmcgeeengineering.com/main.sc
And here is more info the products, didn't want to type it up here: site.gregmcgeeengineering.com/
If you look on youtube, he has a huge amount of video reviews on his flashlights.
He shipped them ridiculously fast from Colorado, and with great communication. They came to me in a nice box which I quickly ripped apart.
These things are bright as hell! I got the P7-D(Mounted on my M4) and the M-2(Multi-Purpose). I have never seen a brighter flashlight. My old tac. light is put to shame compared to this. The M-2 has a focusable head and on it's tightest setting the beam makes it brighter than the P7-D(Yet not as much flood). You could even get a head attachment that he sells so the light turns red(Bushwacker), and the cheap(er) red lens will get shot out rather than the flashlights if it gets shot.
I will post some pictures of them underwater and some of them on my M4 when I get my camera back. Sorry for no pictures, and that this is kind of a review too(move it if it needs to be mods). These things seem fantastic, with phenomenal build quality. For something less than $100, I would have guess the price might as well be over $200! These would be a great in anyones loadout, and sure look like they will last awhile in mine.
