It seems that everyone likes the Bolle T-800's the most. They are low profile allowing you to get your face closer up on your gun. With my current goggles I have some problems with my iron sights every now and then. They aren't cheap, by they are good.

Bolles typically run about $75 new. It's a small price to pay for what are, IMO, the best goggles out there for our purposes.

They don't impede usage of any iron sights, are tough to fog up, and work well with the "spec ops soldier" impression that most of use like to put on.

Airsofting on the cheap is all well and good, but if you're going to spend a good size chunk of change on anything beyond your AEG, a pair of Bolle T-800s is a good choice.

Guarder makes T-800 knockoffs that seem to be pretty much exact duplicates. They're a bit cheaper.

Yes the x800 are the bolle t-800 knock offs. I personally have had a lot of problems with the T-800's fogging up when I am not moving. Fine while I run around but the second I stop and take cover fog hits me. I am switching to a pair of goggles made by ESS. Thermal lenses and are priced at a reasonable 45 dollars.

Additional information new players may find useful:

- Check the commerce sections of airsoft forums for really good deals on used items - I've picked up a Marui AK-47 for $80, and a pair of Motorola Talkabouts for $10 with a charging station; both purchases are worth much more as new items.

- Don't be discouraged from using eBay, if you know exactly what to look for. For example, this seller, HamZone18, sells Talkabout-compatible earbuds for a grand total of $7, I just picked one up and it appears to have great value for its price, a more detailed review may be coming later.

I've gotten shot in the eye numerous times in small battles with my friends. I was wearing some Crosman goggles that weren't expensive ($10 I recall) and they have reflected every shot, even gas gun shots.

It's not like gas guns are somehow more powerful than other guns powered by different means...

And in regards to the Guarder knockoffs - a lot of places don't allow Guarder lenses since they're not ANSI rated - however, it is possible to get authentic replacement lenses for your replica frame, which would still be cheaper than getting the real deal.

Maybe he was uses springers Pyschosis, so to him a gas replica, would be stronger.

Does anyone know how the cheap knock-off tactical gear brands stand up?

Condor, OE Tech, Phantom, King Arms, and various others.

My very first vest was a cross draw OE Tech and it's still in great shape. I only wore it 3-4 times though, and it's been a loaner since. Still looks new and it's been used as a loaner a lot!

Matter of fact, all 6 of my vests are knockoffs and they all serve their purpose quite well. Especially for airsoft.

Most tactical goggles are ANSI Z87.1 rated; all of them are supposed to stop a .22 round, among other things. In fact, it's the standard most airsofters adhere to for eye protection.

I'm not usually the one to end arguments in fact I start them most of the time but why not use a AEP the have some chinese knock offs on sites like Evike and Airsoft1 for between $40 and $50 and you never have to buy gas and the magazines generaly have high capacitys.
