Hey all, I'm going to be putting together a MK18 Mod 1 to aid in my Navy SEAL impression. For those of you out there who have put together your own - I was just curious as to which base gun (Brand, etc) was most commonly used? I've looked into G&P and VFC already. Are there any others that I am missing? Trademarks are important, so the VFC is automatically out. The G&P is linked below: redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/AEG_AEP_G_P_G_P_MK18_Mod_O.htmI'm aware that this is a Mod 0 and I'll need several other components to make it a Mod 1. I just need to know what base gun others are using when constructing this awesome machine. Also, I'm not very savvy when it comes to the inner workings of AEG's, so something with a reputation for reliability would be nice as well. Thanks in advance, Dynamo

Alrighty, upon further research and whatnot, I've decided to go with the G&P. However, I am still interested in hearing any opinions otherwise.

Or you could just get one of these. www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/product_detail1.php?search_From=category&item=VFC-AEG-MK18MOD1FDE&search=special&rs=VFC AEGs&catid=6&cat=329 I was going to get one, then I decided not to risk getting the unlicensed trademarks into the US, so I was going to buy something from a US dealer. Then I found a pretty good deal on a G&P mk18 mod 0 with Colt trades that was for sale on arnies, and already in the U.S. I also bought a Socom Gear mk18 ris II from him, so I should be building a Block II M4 cqbr soon too. If you don't want to deal with unlicensed trademarks, you could just watch around on some of the different forums' classifieds sections and find some thing already here in the country. I personally have never ordered a replica from overseas, but I know that many people have with great success. I just didn't feel like risking it. If you do order from Hong Kong, make sure to have them cover the trades. As for what brand, VFC has rs spec threads, so you won't need the special barrel nut, and VFC is supposed to be a little nicer. Both are very reliable in general, and with slight tuning to increase durability, either one would last a long time.

Get the VFC. Not sure why it was out due to trademarks, as it has Colt trades. This is the rifle from ctres's link:

That's an older Block I Mod.0 Save yourself the time and hassle and just get the pre-made VFC Mod.1 from either WGC or ASG.
