I am writing this in response to the events which took place at the end of Midnight Ruse on Saturday. I think there are a lot of people who are wondering what happened and I owe it to you to explain before rumors begin to fly.
The Kzoo Crew is interested in running some outdoor games this summer. For the last 2 weeks, we have been exploring our options and checking with individual fields in Michigan and Indiana to see who would be interested. I included Bangor and Chaos in my inquiries because I enjoyed playing at these fields. I was approached after the game by CantoXII and accused of trying to ruin his business and "snake his fields". I was also accused of allowing 2 of my team members to try and sneak into Midnight Ruse without paying. We called the team members in question over and resolved the issue in a satisfactory manner to both parties. During the heated discussion, I assured CantoXII that we had gone to great lengths to not interfere with his business and I wanted to be friends.
His final words to me were:
"I have enough friends, and I hope you enjoyed your last game."
At that point I lost my temper and yelled to everyone who was listening that we were just banned by the "little Napoleon."
If that was all that happened I could live with it, but the 7th grade lunchroom bullcrap continued....
Now I recieve messages that CantoXII has instructed all team FLAK members to boycott all of our events. In my opinion, this is a dirty, lowdown, business practice. People have a mind of their own and should be allowed to decide where they want to play without fear of reprocussion from their team leadership.
The last thing I would like to say is that this raises an important question. Is it right for someone to try and monopolize the limited number of fields we have at our disposal? Should such a person have the right to use a neutral forum such as MIA to hurt a business in this way? It is my hope that Airsoft of Kalamazoo will survive this attack and be able to continue running games in the Western Michigan area.
